Fast forward to 2025, your local retail park has a set of stocks. Local miscreants, such as shoplifters, are placed in there from 10am-4pm to endure a bit of public ridicule and barracking.
Reckon that would be a better deterrent than what's currently on offer?

15 minutes after the stocks are locked, there'd be Facebook flaming pitchforks would be out in force.

We used to camp (illegally) on the only lake in the Lake District and often got low flying aircraft passing during training.rodbargee wrote: Fri Mar 21, 2025 10:17 pm there are literally hundreds of flight up and down Wensleydale I say it genuine

You can see the position of the sun, you can see the front of the hotel in shadow, but the Typhoon isn't in shadow?

Plus the fact that's looks like a technical illustration of a Typhoon
Also with a plane flying past that low and close either the background or the plane should be blurred.

The pilot is probably trying to read the sign on the barn roof.

On the farm we had when I was a kid jets flew over what seemed like a lot less than the required 200 foot height.Yorick wrote: Fri Mar 21, 2025 11:01 pmWe used to camp (illegally) on the only lake in the Lake District and often got low flying aircraft passing during training.rodbargee wrote: Fri Mar 21, 2025 10:17 pm there are literally hundreds of flight up and down Wensleydale I say it genuine

I used to just about crap myself when it happened.
The farm was right on the edge of the Northern Fells area of the Wainrights and for almost two days a year its absolutely beautiful up there.
The rest of the time its pretty bleak.

Re: utterly random picture thread.
200 feet you say? I remember driving to Farley radio station looking out of my van window at an A10 flying along side me. He was at house rooftop height maybe (it was open fields).

Re: utterly random picture thread.
A pair of A10's visited RAF Finningley when I was a kid, they flew everywhere very low. The story was that the Septics couldn't navigate so they'd follow the roads and fly low enough to read the motorway road signs.

Did any of the low fliers wave a sign at any of you?
