Over 25? Got a car licence? Ride a 125 with no test in Germany

Post by The Spin Doctor »

Motorcycle licence legislation in Germany has just been changed for drivers who have had their B licence for at least five years and who are at least 25 years old.

To ride a A1 light motorcycle or scooter up to 125cc, all they need to do is complete at least 13.5 hours theoretical and practical training - roughly two days.

No driving test is necessary.

The only caveat to this specific A1 licence is that the holder cannot ride a light motorcycle abroad - it applies only within Germany.

So far this year 27000 drivers have added the A1 licence this way.

No idea. Pen did her CBT in UK years ago.
When we got here, we found out there's no such thing here. Straight on her 125 with car test.

Also if you pass your bike test at 16, you can get a 125.

Our pal did that and got a fire breathing Beta 125 which was awesome off road.
