It's a bit niche but in the 80s I saw an anime film - Urotsukidōji: Legend of the Overfiend at the ICA in that London. It was shown uncut. When the UK VHS came out they'd cut huge chunks out of it (not sure exactly but it was something like a total of 45 minutes from that and the follow up film combined ). The later DVD was similarly, err, truncated.

I popped it in her Studio Ghibli collection, she's not noticed yet.

Got confirmation that my employer is moving buildings next year, from Wapping to Basinghall St in the City. It's been the worst-kept secret ever, so I asked the most important question: there's motorbike parking, right?
Transpires that no, there isn't. Plenty of push bike storage, but nothing for motorbikes, as this will reduce the EPC rating. Fucksticks

Options being:

Find on-street parking, but this is a ballache, plus the risk of bike not being there at the end of the day are significant, plus the British weather does no favours.

Get public transport. Not the end of the world, but not my favoured mode of transport.

Given that TfL are also going to take £1.50 each way to go through the Blackwall from early next year, lest I go over one of the bridges in town, it's looking increasingly likely that commuting into The Smoke on two wheels is not going to be viable for me.

Was discussing with Mrs. G this morning. She asked me if I'd bother keeping a motorbike if I wasn't using it regularly. Been thinking this through this morning. Makes no sense really, to keep something depreciating in the garage if it ain't getting use. But then again, not having a bike seem an anathema to me.

Mrs.Skub bought a set of walkie talkies,one for the garage,so she could continue to order me about from the comfort of her chair. The units,by default come set to an open channel. Whilst on charge I was getting frequent broadcasts from some lucky child who must have got the same set for Xmas.
After multiple verses of Jingle Bells and other assorted kiddy banter,I waited for a pause then I said,"This is Santa,please set down your walkie talkie and be quiet". "Thank you".

Get into work, some twat has moved my truck and not turned the isolator switch off. Go to start it and the thing throws a fit, about a dozen different alarms and warnings go off but it's dead as a doornail as regards starting. Have to get another truck and jump it, leave it on a fast idle and some eejit from the admin building is on the phone to the boss complaining.

Then they send me off to do jobs around Lurgan, Portadown and Armagh, before heading down to Monaghan, Get back to the depot and find out the grumpy old security dude who wore a "Bah Humbug" hat and wished me a Merry fucking Christmas a week ago has dropped dead in his hut.

FFS - if you can see the 'normal' rear lights of the car in front of you, then YOU DO NOT NEED TO PUT YOUR FUCKING REAR FOG LIGHTS ON!!!!!

By the end of a long day following cockwomblingcuddlywuddlyfuckwits that do not understand this, I was again at the end of a very short tether and with no patience!! Probably a good thing I am driving a restricted vehicle as the cars did generally pull away from me. But I could still bloody see them for miles!!!


Given the fact that (sort of) automatic full beam/dip beam has been created and seems to be in general use, surely to goodness manufacturers could sort out an auto sensor for fog lights?? Or a beeper to remind the driver to confirm that they still need them??

Any sign of a light mist nowadays and more than half of drivers put full rear fog lights on and they are bastarding bright on tired eyes

Or link them to a speed limiter. If you think it's foggy enough to need them, you really shouldn't be doing more than 40 mph.

A few years ago I was driving on the A12 at 70 (I was in one of my law abiding phases ) when I was overtaken my a BMW doing about 80. As he got just ahead of me we encountered a patch of mist. I thought it prudent to knock about 10mph off my speed, he thought it prudent to carry on at the same speed and put his rear fog lights on.
