South of France for me. This place is filling up with the bloody English :D
I was hoping to move up there, go for independence, join the EU, get the passport....then decide where to head for.

Yes, but skills are learned, and new skills can be learned too.

I started off learning about telecoms, then I learned a fair bit about aircraft engineering, after retirement I learned a lot about benefit and housing law with CA, then added lots of stuff about education as a Trustee. Learning stuff is perfectly possible.

I wonder why it was growing faster than other countries? Hmm. :hmmm:

Oh look! Maybe because it performed worse than lots of them before it picked up a bit.

What a horrible thing to say. Especially as you say your parents/heritage was non-English. You'd still be a potato picker in Derry if your parents/whoever were not allowed in.
I agree, it is a horrible thing to say. That is because it is a horrible thing that's happening.

Which part of that excerpt is not true?

Indigenous; the people that live in a country, form a society from their shared values. That includes immigrants and their descendants of course. That's you and me. You don't think our laws and customs should be created and upheld for the benefit of those who live here?

Rampant invasion. Inflammatory yes. Untrue, no. It is rampant i.e. unrestrained. Is it an invasion? I.e. an inundation, influx, all the way up to intrusion and trespass; I could make a case for every possible meaning for that word to apply to this unmanaged flood of illegal economic migrants.

If they were asylum seekers or refugees then they are welcome to apply for citizenship to share this part of the world we made for ourselves. Half of my birth family had to flee from Nazi Germany. They did not sneak in on a flotilla of boats, a situation you admit you knew nothing about.

Do they share our values? No. They bring their own and "in todays news" an elected politician stood up in parliament arguing that incestuous marriage should be allowed.

Are they insisting "we adopt theirs"? See above.

So yeah. It is horrible but it is an uncomfortable truth. Other opinions are available.
Man, just stop for a bit. I'm embarrassed for you.

You're talking about immigrants like they're all screaming Muslims wearing bomb vests running straight for destruction and mass killing. Whereas that's clearly not true.
Just a few more words saying you are wrong.

No one is saying they are all intent on murdering us. A few are, and we need robust processes to stop those few, as opposed to no process at all at present.

Most of them pose little immediate physical threat, they do however pose a major cultural threat. They have very different customs and societal mores, they are out-breeding us, and many have no desire to integrate, they want to turn their locality into ghetto. We should make it crystal clear to any and all that come to the UK that we expect them to learn English and conform with our ways. We are quite happy for them to bring foreign customs with them, and within limits we will tolerate them as long as they don't contravene our laws or inconvenience others. What we won't be doing is changing our laws or customs to suit them.

Integrate, or bugger off is the simple version.

They, them, they,

Tolerate

I mean come on. It's not a war you know. 'we' don't have an identity that we need to protect. You only need to look at football violence, street violence, even how 'we' behave when we go abroad and are the most hated group of people on the planet.
What are you trying to save here, the right to down 12 Stella, slap the wife about a bit and puke all over the dog. Yup, great, nice one.

It seems I'm in the minority here though and that really saddens me a lot.

I work daily with lads closely who are Asians as you'd expect in IT, they pay their bills, mortgage, taxes, but that's ok because they're integrating into our society yeah?

It's honestly fucking creepy your so obsessed to such an extent.

Todays News. Sheesh.

I have worked with more nationalities and cultures than I can recall. Many are fine, one friend came to the UK as a child, a refugee from Idi Amin. He was became an engineer, his brother became an accountant and his baby sister became a doctor. Apart from his name and a darker skin tone he is as English as I am. At my last job there were 2 girls, one from India, one from Pakistan. The Indian girl dressed in modern Western dress usually a mini skirt, the Pakistani girl wore very modest black Moslem dress. Both spoke English and both were fine, if one chose to wear a headscarf it was no skin off my nose. As far as I am concerned they were both integrated, in fact the Moslem girl was a barrel of laughs and good fun, the sexy looking Indian girl much less so.

I do however know that some immigrants don't want to integrate, an Indian guy who worked for me was ostracized by his family because he had a white girlfriend. Another friend's mother had never learned any English (after living here for 30+ years), and another had massive disagreements with his family because he rejected Islam and drank alcohol. Another had similar issues because he cut his hair and declined to wear a turban. Others groups (eg some Hassidic Jews) have fiercely resisted integration for generations.
Toleration must work both ways.

And I BTW I don't like Stella, don't have a dog, and the wife would slap me right back!

So, when they turn up at the ports, how do we decide who will or won't integrate and become valued members of society?

What if the ones who were fine got turned away and a bad one got in ?

I have an Indian customer. I want to marry her just for the amazing smells that come out her kitchen. I am sure she and her mother are cooking for the 5000 as they never seem to stop cooking.

Yup. But we can't all be brain surgeons.

FWIW, in 2019-2020 I saw four neurologists, none were 'white Anglo-Saxon'. If the presumption that they weren't born in the UK is correct, I'm glad they chose to make here their home.

You mentioned foreign students earlier. At a very, very, rough guess, they're bringing in £15 billion every year to the UK. I don't know how many will stay in the UK post-course or whether their contribution could actually be achieved by UK students. Although UK students would most likely be incurring debt to be written off in a few decades rather than paying as they go.

Then I shall cut to the chase. I do not want the UK to become an Islamic state. Whether you understand that aspect of the Islamic cult; choose to believe it or not; that is their stated ambition. The whole world has to convert to Islam or we will kill you. Assimilate or die.

I'm not too happy about that. I am also not happy to have Sharia law discussed in UK parliament, allow marriage between second cousins or for our secular state to have "blasphemy" laws for fucks sake. This made up nonsense about "Islamophobia" is already a step too far as we slowly begin to lose freedom of speech or freedom of thought. That path leads to totalitarianism.

I fully agree with the statement regarding football fans. There is a mob mentality which you might suggest is another example of how cultish behaviour leads inevitably to violence.

I am an atheist so far as the religious lot would tell you. I do not believe in God but I am super happy for anyone who chooses to think otherwise. I'll be damned (!) if some fucking preacher from whatever religion is going to TELL me I have to believe in sky fairies because it is THE LAW.

I don't care if a person is Asian, Slavic, African or Chinese. That is window dressing. I care much more about how someone behaves, what they do, who they are - the content of their character as Martin Luther King described it. i don't care if anyone wishes to be Muslim, Sikh, Buddhist, Christian, Amish or a fucking Scientologist. Each to their own. But that also means they do not have the right to force their religious views on me.

Only one of those religions preaches intolerance and perpetrates barbaric violence upon non believers. Only one of those religions commits heinous crimes to punish the disbeliever. And we all know which one that is.

The UK population is just over 6% Muslim.

How many of that 6% are proper strict Muslim. Believe every word, don't drink, kill the infidel, etc..?

I dunno, but I think it'll take a few more to make the place an Islamic state, but that's just me.
