Motorcycle trip bucket list
Seeing as we're doing the 3 bike garage bucket list what are the favourite 3 trips you've done & what 3 trips do you still want to do?
My 3 are;
Bol D'or 24 hours back in 1986,the madness of it all
Isle of Man Classic TT/Manx GP I prefer the laid back atmosphere compared to the TT
A day hooning around Bali on Honda 110 step thrus. What a hoot that day was
3 Still to do
Lofoten & the Nordkapp
Morocco
A French tour including Route de Grande Alps & Route Napoleon.
There's a few other that I could add to either list but 3's the magic number so what's your 3?

Some of these may be out of reach, financially and/or physically.

As long as I'm on a bike I'll enjoy it, don't care where.

Been there, done that, bit underwhelming. The fjords further south are much better.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2024 2:07 pm I'd like to ride to the Arctic Circle just to say I have.

Had Nordkap on my list at one stage, having spoken to people who have done it it is a loooong way to go, and pretty boring.

Re: Motorcycle trip bucket list
Still to do a trip of any note but this year could be the year I get to ride down to our place in France as the missus may have found someone to share the driving with when we go in Spring. Once down there there's plenty of routes in Lot and around the Volcanoes of the Massif Central I want to ride.
Anything else this year will have to be UK based. Fancy forrin trips will have to wait for retirement I suspect.

I do plan to ride the length of Italy (yeah...predicable) when I jack work in.
In the meantime, the Catford one-way system to the B.P. garage on the A21 in Sidcup holds a certain appeal....

Pretty much this... Bikes trip with a few days away from home on roads you've not been on before are ace.Rockburner wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2024 2:08 pm As long as I'm on a bike I'll enjoy it, don't care where.
Day's out on the same old roads does get boring.

Re: Motorcycle trip bucket list
The only motorcycle trip I've done that I'd do again was a fantastic trip to the Peak District in May 1992 (I think) which involved a lot of getting up just after dawn and annoying everyone along the A6 from Darley Dale to Buxton and back again.
I definitely don't want to do any long trips to risky countries, I found them both boring (the riding is pretty dull) and stressful (always thinking what the fuck do I do if something seriously goes wrong, I'm one of life's worriers)

Re: Motorcycle trip bucket list
The Visordown Supermoto rides in Northern Corsica and The Ardeche were fantastic (and nearly 20 years ago!).
Fez to Mergouza in Morocco earlier this year-rain, snow, sunshine and a sandstorm all in one day
Motril to Sorbas in Andalucia just a couple of days ago. Roads with smooth surfaces and no pot holes, and fantastic scenery.
Less favourites, Helsinki to St Petersburg on a borrowed 883 Harley-total nutters trying to overtake lines of lorries without being able to see whats coming the otherway. So many wrecked cars seen on the side of the road.
A13 into London in the pissing rain. Happened too many times to count in over 21 years of bike commuting

Re: Motorcycle trip bucket list
Some favourites:
I still want to do Norway.
I also really fancy Italy.
Somewhere further flung like Vietnam or Nepal is on the wish list too.
- The Black Forest in Southern Germany
- The N260 through the Pyrenees
- The Picos in Northern Spain
- All over France
- Croatia
- Montenegro (the Sedlo pass in particular was stunning)
- Romania
- New Zealand

We went over the hill from Ubud to Beratan in September. Central ubud was less fun though.Bustaspoke wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2024 1:51 pm Isle of Man Classic TT/Manx GP I prefer the laid back atmosphere compared to the TT
