Their shareholders may disagree having seen a 30% drop since August. Difficult to pin Tata woes just on one brand but it hasn't made things any better is for sure!Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 8:06 pm It may be several things, but so far "spectacularly unsuccessful" is not one of them. Jaguar are headline news (and not cause they're sex pests!), which is hard to beat so far as advertising goes.
Get woke, go broke. I confidently predict that car will never see the light of day coz no one in their right mind would be seen dead in it.

Nah, 20 year old 'woke' professional football players will be falling over themselves to buy them.Screwdriver wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 8:24 pmTheir shareholders may disagree having seen a 30% drop since August. The 'woke' advert dropped in late November.Screwdriver wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 8:24 pm Their shareholders may disagree having seen a 30% drop since August.
Jaguar announced earlier this year they're not making and selling cars any more.
Which do you think has had a bigger impact on the share price* since August?
*and as above Jaguar don't have shares. The parent conglomerate do

Its a design concept.
When was the last time you saw a fully realised design concept on a forecourt?
Some of the ideas and cues might come through on the production vehicle, but a lot won't.

All the gammons frothing at the mouth are helping the JaGuar cause no end - they're keeping the Big Cat in the headlines and for all the right reasons - controversial, mega-expensive new car in the pipeline. They (the gammons) have been played and they just can't see it.

If you hadn't edited out the next part of that post, you would see that I addressed that exact point in the bit you deleted.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 8:52 pmThe 'woke' advert dropped in late November.Screwdriver wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 8:24 pm Their shareholders may disagree having seen a 30% drop since August.

Has your account been hacked? Who is this version of Mr. D? Where's that smart chap who used to be behind that alias?

Yeah, just like Dillon Mulvaney <spell it yourself> and the Bud Light effect. It's all a joke we've all been played for fools <blah> <blah>, company still flushes itself down the toilet.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 9:07 pm All the gammons frothing at the mouth are helping the JaGuar cause no end - they're keeping the Big Cat in the headlines and for all the right reasons - controversial, mega-expensive new car in the pipeline. The incredible truth is, the advertising marketing prick behind that tired old meme genuinely believes they are doing a great job. Alienating anyone and everyone who had formerly been proud of that once great British brand. They really think they are being clever and mysterious. The left will eat itself.

Re: Go woke, or go broke...
The next part of your post is irrelevant, that's why I didn't include it.
In fact, if you did want to try and pin anything about TATA's share price on this rebrand you'd have to say it's been a success, 'cause the share price has gone UP since this ad and car were revealed
But I don't want to do that, 'cause I think it's BS. Just pointing out the usual "go woke go broke" nonsense. At least you didn't swallow the "woke ad tanks share price" story quite as hard as ZX81.

Re: Go woke, or go broke...
Oh so that fact you edited out the bit of my post where I say the Tata share price is difficult to link with a mere brand somehow is irrelevant to your questioning the impact of the Jaguar brand on the Tata share price? That is not how I would use the word "irrelevant".Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 9:46 pm The next part of your post is irrelevant, that's why I didn't include it.

In any event, the facts are there for anyone who cares to look.

Re: Go woke, or go broke...
My quick straw poll of EV and Jag owners (my family ).
Dad (67) - serial Jag owner, caravan enthusiast, EV driver too. Likes it.
Mum (66) - same as dad. HATES it.
Brother (43) - EV driver but not a Jag owner. Loves it.
I like it. I'd drive one.

Re: Go woke, or go broke...
What you (and to be fair most of the press) are ignoring is the fact that JaGuar are performing a total re-brand and re-position in full view of the world. And most of the world don't like it, but that's OK because all the people getting exercised about the 'trashing of an iconic brand' never bought any of the fucking cars anyway.Screwdriver wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 9:43 pm The incredible truth is, the advertising marketing prick behind that tired old meme genuinely believes they are doing a great job. Will this re-brand work? I have no idea. But it's a brave move and that, along with pissing off so many gammons, has to be applauded.

Pissing gammons off may be something you like, but it won’t make anyone rich.

Re: Go woke, or go broke...
Well that is entirely subjective and while I think it looks shit, that's in comparison with most if not all of the cars that Jaguar have previously designed.
I would of course jump at the chance to own one which is just about as likely as me taking Charlize Theron out on a date in one.
So it's really just the advert that makes me gag but ultimately isn't that what a "brand" is all about anyway....

I suspect the success will be down to far more mundane things sadly.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 10:14 pm Will this re-brand work? I have no idea. But it's a brave move and that, along with pissing off so many gammons, has to be applauded.
The XF, F Type and F pace were all fairly big relaunches and revivals for Jag, all let down by being not as good as the competition, particularly as an ownership prospect.
Impactful rebrands are only gonna get you so far. Plus the fact every western car OEM is being or about to be right royally fucked by China

Re: Go woke, or go broke...
I tend to agree. I think were seeing more and more push back on the woke movement in general. Like most things its started out as a good and needed concept and now has pushed itself into a money making pit of stupidness. I hope JaGuars timing is right as they're about to launch a new concept on the back of a dying one. Its a big gamble with a lot at stake.Screwdriver wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 9:43 pmYeah, just like Dillon Mulvaney <spell it yourself> and the Bud Light effect. Re: the car itself. If Jag is really going to push itself into the top luxury car market, it will indeed need to be a total rebirth. They haven't represented themselves well in that model range for many, many years. I'm also concerned about the rebirth being a solitary EV range. Questions marks are repeatedly appearing over it as a power choice as seen with a change in thinking from some manufacturers as well as the publics fading interest in EVs. Jaguar is changing, I'm just worried its into a white elephant!

Also jaGUar know nothink about EVs.
They weren't the only mainstream manufacturer to launch a model at least half competitive with Tesla back when Mr Musk was disrupting the market.
