Anyways, modern fighter jets are only made to get pilots laid.

Re: Is Russia just about to invade Ukraine?
I think that is a possibility but I doubt if any F16's have been modified to carry them yet. It's not that easy. It is a moot point though because the use of Stormshadow and permission to use advanced long range weapons inside Russia is a deliberate political statement. It's not as if the USA need our relatively heavy, slow and crude missiles. They have plenty of better options ready to go. They just need us to join in, get some skin in the game.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 8:34 pm I think it's the gifted F16's that are firing the UK donated Stormshadow missiles.

Indeed.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 8:35 pm I suspect Putin will know exactly what/where those missiles were launched by/from. I also suspect that will have little bearing on what he says about it in public
FWIW I seem to remember hearing they're fired from Ukrainian Su24s.
But the point is, when does this stop being a proxy war? How much more can we goad Putin into further escalation before he snaps? War has been declared for far less provocation and if we reach a point where the USA/Europe are directly involved in attacks inside Russia, things can go Pete Tong very quickly.
As I suggested some time ago, with all of the chaos surrounding the collapse of the previous US administration, that could be the least worst option for some incredibly powerful groups. Give themselves a giant payoff before they finally lose their grip on the reins of power.

I imagine Putin will hold on and see what Trump does when he actually takes charge; and hopes that will be hand him victory. So until then he won't do anything major. And the other side know that and are using that to gain some traction.

Re: Is Russia just about to invade Ukraine?
I concur. However, I don't believe Trump is going to be that friendly when push comes to shove. Quite the opposite. My guess is Trump will tell Putin to get out of Ukraine (Donbas and Crimea) or he will flood Ukraine with every weapon at his disposal. He might even go into Ukraine with "boots on the ground". Putin has to get out or the US will force him out.
He might even threaten to blow the fuck out of his billionaires mansion, Putins personal holiday estate the size of Monaco. He has form for that sort of intensely personal threat.
He might then offer some sort of deal for their mutual benefit, to include a treaty precluding Ukraine from joining NATO and maybe something around oil/gas supplies. I seem to recall there was once quite recently a deal between Russia/Ukraine that Russia had some sort of lease on the use of Crimea and there may be some leverage there to revisit the idea.
Russia is broke. The rouble just fell off a cliff. Either Putin goes all in for a war (which the deep state/Biden admin is after) or he capitulates and does a deal with Trump.
I think that will literally happen within 24 hours too. Trump is no fool and I don't think he is going to negotiate with Putin, he'll just tell him what his options are and make him decide on the spot. Putin is no fool either and at this stage, without BRICS, he probably realises his options are limited to whatever Trump puts on the table.
Dodgy as fuck but it is what it is.

Re: Is Russia just about to invade Ukraine?
Ukraine modified their SU-24s to carry SS missiles last year. Obviously I wouldn't dream of posting a msm link, so here's a history lesson from the Czech Air Force on Ukraine's SU-24s.Screwdriver wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 7:46 pm
The upshot is, the UK will be firing missiles at Russia. Our missile, from our aircraft, fired by our pilots. Most likely the air electronics operator or navigator who could be a trained Ukrainian.

Re: Is Russia just about to invade Ukraine?
The stormshadow missile is pre-progammed to hit a specific target from what I've read/heard. Is the UK not in a spot of hot water as it's likely that they are programmed here or by the UK?

Re: Is Russia just about to invade Ukraine?
I kinda feel like the "programmed in the UK" or whatever is a bit of a "so what?". Surely the key point is that you've given someone weapons to lob into Russia, quibbling over the details of where the buttons get pressed kinda doesn't matter.

Not really his decision though is it? He does what he's told to do, says what he's told to say.
Out of interest, does anyone really think this ex comedian, ex actor is actually in charge of events here?
Not a criticism per se, heck for the millions and millions of dollars he's made out of this job, I'd do it too...
No reason on this earth they'd choose me though, none of my friends are/were multibillionaire oligarchs. I'm not a good enough actor either.

It’s amazing that a loser in Hicksville has a such an insight into how the Ukrainian leadership may or may decide. But at least he stood up for something other than just being a keyboard warrior!Screwdriver wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2024 8:57 pmNot really his decision though is it? Don't know. It would depend on the precise circumstances. While I get the impression that many people on here do not connect the dots from so many of the "conspiracy theories" surrounding current political issues. I do. I hesitate to list them here...Hoonercat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 9:59 amWould you support that decision, if it became reality?Screwdriver wrote: ↑Fri Nov 29, 2024 1:57 am I concur. There's also NATO to consider and it is quite possible that Trump will begin dismantling the grip that the WEF/Blackrock/UN etc. have over the political system in Europe. Dismantle being too strong a word but hopefully clearing out the swamp in the US will have a huge effect on this concerted attempt at globalisation, i.e. a world largely under the control of and being run by the WEF/Davos etc.
I guess I will take the easy way out and say that I support Trump and the Trump team so I would most likely agree with whatever decision they make regards Ukraine/Russia. That is if the outgoing administration don't scupper any chance they might have to influence the outcome. Depends what BlackRock et al decide is in their best financial interests whether they let things play out with Trump or get something done before he even reaches office.
One thing is for certain imho: if the current admin <whoever they are> do something now it will not be in the best interests of Ukraine or Europe generally nor for you and i personally. This money laundering scam, dragging on the conflict for as long as possible with no stated goal, is coming to an end. It has become such a shitshow that whatever happens is going to leave a bad taste.

If Ukraine had to rely on Europe alone, they would be even more fucked than they are now (that's saying something!)
