Blimey, that opens a can of worms. I hit the tyre wall at Mallory, properly smashing myself up.

AIUI they were always pretty much worthless .
My understanding is that you can't sign away your duty of care to others, so you're still open for a neglect claim regardless of what any attendees sign.

To which that day's trainee, something in the 'legal' business, said that it wouldn't stand up in court if there was a claim.
Ironically, perhaps, the journo was running track training courses for the magazine soon after.

Might not make any difference.
If it was reasonably foreseeable that someone could hit it, and a better barrier could reduce injury, then the argument might be that it should have been installed.

I actually agree with you.
The point I was going to make, but wanted to check if it was an official BSB test, is that I have no sympathy for MSV if they put sub standard crash defences up for a BSB test when compared to what they do for an actual race.
I'd not considered it from the point of view of a track day, or a club race. We are no less important than a BSB rider, so we should have the same level of safety as a BSB race. However, are track day riders/club racers prepared to foot the big increase in cost to them in order to provide that level of safety?

In which case I have zero sympathy for MSV/BSB. Why they should think the riders don't need the same level of circuit protection for a test day, compared to a race day, is beyond me.

Since he was only doing 15ish mph on impact, how slow are these races?
Jests aside, is it reasonable for racers to expect more protection / track day riders less?
