Oh wow. I actually didn't know I could do that!! Off to have a look for the setting!!MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 1:45 pmIt works the same as X and Bluesky, you set it to only show those you are following rather than suggestions from them.
It's one of the reasons I don't get people having a mard towards a social platform, set it up to work how you want it to work and you see no negative shit at all, unless you go looking for it.

Re: Bluesky
Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook (I signed up just to look at a video of an old mates art exhibition in Greece, then never looked in again)....all 3 keep sending me email notifications or other notifications. Even after I purged FB.
Like Noggin says, the stuff I wanted to follow on IG is swamped by algorithmic crap and adverts.
(Fortunately FB links to a 'sacrificial' email account).
I suppose I should jump through the hoops and get the FB and LI accounts deleted. I do still occasionally check in on IG and keep in contact with a couple of people via it a couple of times a year, so I guess I really count as 'barely active' ).
Just spotted the post about configuring IG to eliminate the spam. Really???! How?

Yeah if you look hard enough I'm sure you can see the same level of genius incisive commentary, amongst the tidal wave of nonsense, against articles on the Daily Mail website. It's a fair comparison.Screwdriver wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 1:46 pm The genius of Musk was to introduce Community Notes to X. That is a self regulating fact checking notation (by the users).
Who is policing Community Notes? Who is providing this fact checking service?

I don't think it's the done thing to shit over someone else's LinkedIn, but it's so very tempting in this case.

Re: Bluesky
Not even close. The methodology and coding for the community notes service is entirely open source. Who knows what gets censored, deleted, shadow banned on the Daily Mail website? It's not a source I use myself...DefTrap wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 2:03 pmYeah if you look hard enough I'm sure you can see the same level of genius incisive commentary, amongst the tidal wave of nonsense, against articles on the Daily Mail website. As for who is policing Community Notes, the clue is in the title and if you look carefully, described in my post above,

Don't think that's how mine appear. I'll have a look next week. (Maybe it's followed accounts first per days posts? Certainly last time I looked in I thought 'Eh? I don't remember much of this, I'm sure I don't follow that, that, that, that etc').MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 1:53 pmI've just looked on Insta, buggered if I can find it, but I don't get suggestions until I've worked through all of my followed content.Noggin wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 1:48 pmOh wow. You know community notes predates Musk by several years, right? Perhaps a community note is needed.Screwdriver wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 1:46 pm The genius of Musk was to introduce Community Notes to X.

Re: Bluesky
Twitter was very chattering classes back in the day. Stephen Fry was all over it.
Last I heard it had dropped 25% in value since Elon Musk took over and turned it shouty right wing.

I know that it does not. Perhaps you are beguiled by Wikibollocks. You are bandying semantics.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 4:50 pmYou know community notes predates Musk by several years, right? The feature that Musk developed for X is not merely an ability for members to append "notes" to content they disagree with. It is a much more robust process...

Re: Bluesky
TBF it's massively on brand for Musk to claim he introduced or invented something he didn't. He's taken over from Steve Jobs and Apple in that regard.

Re: Bluesky
I don't think he is making any such claim. I did but then I was being imprecise I guess (if you say so). He certainly did change Twitter and insert a new process called "Community Notes" into X.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 6:33 pm TBF it's massively on brand for Musk to claim he introduced or invented something he didn't. Fun little fact, the payment website he was a founder of was X.com, back in like 200something.
Saved a few quid on the domain name maybe.
