Bluesky
Anyone bothered yet?
It's starting to get mentioned more and more on the telly, even Martin Lewis mentioned his team were posting on it officially.
I'm too dim to cope with more than one social media, so I've never done twitter/x, only Friendface.
Is it a death knoll for X or just another MySpace?

Re: Bluesky
Some Dutch Rainbow Cycle group made some huge announcement on facebook that they have binned X in and moved over. They got pelters for the dramatic announcement as no one really gives a shit. MeWe i thought may have took off big style but folk seem to be set in there ways on whatever platform they like best.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 1:02 pm Anyone bothered yet?

Some social media types seem impossibly fragile. Flouncing after some perceived slight on the interwebz is the new pandemic.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 1:09 pmNew Twitter competitor. Apparently lots of peeps jumping ship cos they don't like Mr Musk.
Despite frequenting FacePlant,I never really 'got' Twitter,so more of the same shit I don't need, then?

Re: Bluesky
No ads, people seem fairly decent in their interactions without the toxicity of Twitter and so far the bot/troll/cunty comments aren’t appearing yet but like all platforms it’ll probably suffer eventual enshitification.

Re: Bluesky
No surprise that folk are bailing Twitter as it is essentially now a moderated right-wing newspaper with no journalistic repercussions, sold as unmoderated social media.
But I doubt BlueSky will be any better, someone will find a way to ruin it. I refer you to eBay (being gently stabbed to death by its own greed and officious rulebook) and Facebook (being killed by its unfashionable ageing patrons, overuse of paid Ads, and tsunami of AI generated content).

Re: Bluesky
One of the local TV stations which acts like an arm of the DNC has some snowflake "financial expert" whose X page is just one rant about Trump after another. Yesterday he was pissing & moaning about X not being a very nice place now & was moving to BS (how apt).
He got loads of responses that were variations of "ok, fuck off then".
Apparently the people on BS are being endlessly trolled & reports of "nasty comments" on there have increased from 42,000 for the entire past year to around 35,000 a day.

Re: Bluesky
It is a copy of Twitter created by the guy who created Twitter (Jack Dorsey). He's since left (no pun intended).
Difference being (other than the obvious left wing vs. right wing suggestion) is that users/members can host their own content on their own servers.
Therefore they can "own" their account which is different from most social media outlets which merely operate as a host.
I assume the idea was to circumvent the possibility for article 230 being removed. Article 230 being the legislation which prevents social media platforms from being sued since they are supposed to operate as a platform for discussion and not be held responsible as a publisher per se.

Just watch the videos and be brave enough to have your own opinions, no conspiracies if you don't won't to.

People have been going on about an exodus and the death of Twitter since Musk took over, the boy has cried wolf far too many timesDefTrap wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 1:58 pm No surprise that folk are bailing Twitter as it is essentially now a moderated right-wing newspaper with no journalistic repercussions, sold as unmoderated social media.

I signed up for it, but I'm struggling to get the algorithms to give me the stuff i want to see yet, I guess that will get better the more users that sign up and the more I follow what I want?
I haven't used X not long after the nutjob Musk took over, what a horrible toxic place it became.

Re: Bluesky
It has had a massive issue with childporn and paedophiles jumping in there. No moderation and a free range access at the beginning... not exactly good news in that regard.
