464,000+ now. Labour got 9,708,716 votes in the general election. I wonder what happens if the petition gets more votes than that.Taipan wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 1:56 amIt was on about 65k hen I first saw it earlier, its now about 230k and climbing. Yup. Considering that (of the population that voted) nearly 10 million voted Con or Lib it's surprising that anyone is about a Twitter clickathon.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 10:40 am They're gonna consider it for debate it in parliament, where Labour have a huge majority, so er......then what?
Methinks with a government being elected to 5 years in post, the merry band of 'social media politicians' need to think about pacing themselves.

Don't worry Starmer had already sorted this out ahead of winning the election and we all know how he keeps his promises!

Its a fully costed plan for when he wins the election. He's always quite clear about his plans. A man of integrity...Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 11:01 am Which bit of "this winter" * did you struggle with?

Re: In todays news...
He doesn't make any promises in that video though?
Oddly enough, prior to the headlines the winter fuel payment was not a topic I paid much attention to. However looking back now, I can't see anything in labour's campaign saying they would/wouldn't change it, but I freely admit I haven't looked very hard.
However, posting a video of someone in opposition giving the PM a hard time in PMQs isn't stellar evidence of broken promises to me. In fact if you just swap the characters over it could be a video from a couple of weeks ago

Re: In todays news...
Well...the other option would be let the energy companies self regulate. Which I'm sure would work out much better for the consumer

Or maybe government regulates the price themselves, but then, who would they blame.
