Re: What have you done today thread?
I can't read
I can't rite
That don't rightly matter
Cos I come down
From glawster way
And I can drive a tratter
Never driven a tractor before, 24 speed Case.
Odd thing to be moving furniture around with, but better than carrying it all!

Went to see the father in law in hospital. Very sad as he’s away with the fairies most of the time. It wa# Especially upsetting for my wife, but I started to get him back by not quizzing him and talking about his interests instead. Slow recovery I reckon and just hope we get a lot of him back again? Tried talking to the doctor but he was about as much use as a ashtray on a motorbike!

Didn’t go to York on the lash as weather was preventing trains from running to schedule and nobody could get there without a whole load of grief.
Managed to get two new radiators hung and plumbed in, they are certainly an improvement on previous efforts.
Currently devouring a dirty kebab watching The Penguin contemplating buying some tools.

Hah! We went to York today on the train and both journeys were on time and no delays.
However, you did the right thing. The rain was incessant and the streets early-ish doors (10:00) were treacherous with slush and ice. The main reason (apparently) that we went was so we could see the Christmas markets (not my choice, y'unnerstand) but who wants to stand around looking at tat in the driving rain? Not even Mrs Mango.
Did I mention that it rained a lotlotlot?

Re: What have you done today thread?
Turns out that "I'm not working Saturday. It's good" (But in french!) means, "see you saturday"!!
So, I went for lunch with my favourite instructor, then a wander around resort and dinner at the chalet of some friends!! I've talked French all day!!
I do feel a bit mean as I thought it was a small gathering of people I know well, a couple of them speak some french. Turns out there were four others invited, I know them all, but not very well (by choice!). And those four were the sort of Brits that just weren't interested in talking slowly to include someone they didn't know So we spent a few hours there with a couple of people trying to speak a bit of French, me doing a fair bit of translating!
But it's been a fab day
Now chilling chez moi and watching Strictly (on my own!)

Bugger all. Sat on my arse, watched some Netfix tripe, consumed some beer and now enjoying a second glass of red wine.
A thoroughly enjoyable if decadent day.

Re: What have you done today thread?
I've baked. Done some practice highway code tests (exam tomorrow at 13h).
In between a bit of both, I found an official letter I'd put down unopened and it got covered, so opened it.
Caused quite a lot of stress as it said the 'jury have discussed and decided that you don't meet the requirements to pass the course'
FFS!! After total panic of thinking it meant the last exam, I have realised that it just means the highway code! I mean, I have written confirmation from someone at the school (who did all the comms for the last exam) that I passed the FIMO, so need to chill the fuck out!!
So, the last few highway code test have been shit!! LOL Baking has been alright
I so hope I pass tomorrow so I don't have to deal with all this stuff (for a while, there'll be something else soon!!)

Re: What have you done today thread?
Been to Smyths Toys.
Looking at toys for the niece (5 in April) for Christmas, she's just become a big Barbie fan. So I'd picked up a £25 Barbie scooter, then I walk down the outdoor aisle.
I went and put the Barbie scooter back and walked out with this.

Yeah, it only does 1.6mph too, she'll have no chance of outrunning the Five-O.

Re: What have you done today thread?
I just a bit of a giggle . . . . . .
Made myself a decaf coffee and remembered that yesterday I offered the Frenchman a decaf if he preferred one (we'd had about three each by then and I was sure he'd already had a load of coffee before he left home!)
The response was -
Why would I want decaf? I'm not sick!!

Went to my sisters for a roast dinner, which was delicious, but as we always host, we,d forgotten how nice it is when someone else does all the work! We shall accept more invitations. In future!

Re: What have you done today thread?
Its been a year since the step daughter decided to move back to our town with her new husband and new baby. Wife decided to bring back the traditional family dinners round a table on a Sunday. Its been great having them round for six month or more then the step daughter decided to host it every 2nd week. It is something to look forward to now. Free meal with starters and desert. No need to do the washing up and my only task is to take a bottle of wine. Love it
