Fri thread... Brrrrrr now gale force winds one.

Post by weeksy »

Well it's been bloody chilly and the other radiator was turned on a few days back.

Plan is for it to get a bit warmer, but wetter and 50mph+ winds.

Fri is WFH and then i'm flying solo as wife and boy are out, so debating heading out for tea or staying in... Mmmmm
Sat i'm kinda stuck for both Sat and Sun as the weather looks awful and all the bikes are prepped and sorted, so umm i dunno.

Fri, I’m a spare shift and haven’t been called in to work to cover anyone (so far) so that’s a win! Chilly dog walk and finish off wiring up cable to shed. No riding as I’m still getting over horrible cold and my sinus feel like a boiler with the regulator jammed shut.

Saturday and Sunday are 12hr shifts at work, Storm Bert looks like our days could be “entertaining” but hopefully it’ll mean the troubled people stay at home and don’t pay the railway a visit.

Looks like it could be a bit blustery down there. The Weald and Downland open air museum have just cancelled their biggest event of the year this weekend. (It's a Christmas Fair thing and it was expected to be so busy they were planning on overflow parking at Goodwood and bussing people in. Hope their insurance cover is good!).

I've got a swish new mattress arriving on Tues. No more lumps of foam for me hurrah! Then a few days of rural splendour at the 'country pile' :D - probably surveying the havoc that Bert has caused in Sussex.

Given the weather forecast I think more spannering will be on the cards;

Oil change and valve clearances on the Himalayan.

Need to sort a leaky towel rail, luckily it's on isolators if it's more than a nut that needs nipping up and logs arriving tomorrow so a couple of hours of shifting them is on the cards.

Wife is off to Strictly tomorrow so pizza and beer for tea👍

Nights Friday Saturday and Sunday. I’m with Ming, at least the weather will stop them from visiting the motorway, I hope, having already dealt with one earlier this week.
New air source heating is working brilliantly although still getting my head round making it work at its most efficient. So lots of time spent on small changes, reading up on it and enjoying being warm😎.
Enjoy, have fun, tie everything down
Mick.

I "believe" we're putting up a short section of fence (well, hurdles) tomorrow: which will be fun. Obviously need to shift and landscape a section of earth banking first.

We'll see how far we get....

We had a bad storm in the whole area yesterday - annoyingly, even some rain up here :( :( Trees down all over the place, pretty glad I wasn't out on the roads!! Then more wind but snow overnight, so at least it looks like the snow is good, just got a layer of rain under the new stuff :( :(

Today : I've had a great morning. I saw my neighbour last night cos there were some sofa cushions in the corridor that I figured were his and had left a note saying that if they were for the bin, then could I have them. He stopped by to say yes!! LOL

So this morning I popped round for coffee (I had been invited!!) and we had a great chat. He had a really serious accident last winter I think, might have been the summer - I got more info today. It's bloody incredible that he's alive, let alone walking!! Even apart from that, fab chat. Then I came home and I've swapped my rubbish foam sofa cushions (mostly cut to fit-ish) for some actual sofa cushions. Ok, had to cut to fit and so one side's cover doesn't fit, but one day maybe I'll sort that (or not, depends if I'm here all winter or not!)

This afternoon a mate is driving to the valley so I'm hoping in to go do some shopping :D

Chilling this evening - unless anyone wants to come up to Centre to the only bar that's open! But mostly chilling with revising thrown in

Tomorrow - this depends a bit. A friend is still wanting to come and visit but he finds out on Friday if he's working the weekend. So I'm waiting to hear he's working - again :( :( Would be nice if not, but hey, wait and see!
In the morning, I have some baking and cooking to do and some more revision.
Then some friends have invited a few of us to dinner. Although apparently, according to my friend, 18h is wayyyy too early for evening food    Not sure what he'd make of the menu either, but since he'll be working, I don't have to worry about it!!

Sunday - more revision. Organising to get to school on Monday for hte exam. Still waiting for the boss to tell me if I can use a vehicle to get there - if not I need someone to drop me down to the valley to get a very early train!!

Mostly, any time I'm not occupied I will be stressing about the exam :( :( :(
Life is for living. Buy the shoes. Eat the cake. Ride the bikes. Just, ride the bikes!! :bblonde:

Today, work then head to Screwfix to pick up some plumbing supplies for jobs over the weekend.

Saturday, day drinking in York with some mates, doubt it will be too extreme, probably head to restaurant / takeaway on way home from train station

Sunday, whilst, no doubt, nursing a hangover, upgrade / swap around some radiators as the current ones are massively under spec’d for the rooms they are in. Dining room rad is heading into a much smaller bedroom, new 7,000 btu monster going in the same place but needs pipe work re-routing. Master bedroom rad is going into another spare bedroom, new 7k btu going into master, yep rerouting needed for both of these as well. Bathroom is having a towel rail removed and a small radiator is being added. Small bedroom one will be installed once I’ve finished decorating the room.

I’m hoping to avoid draining the entire system but either way I’ll be adding new inhibitor and cleaning out the magna clean.

Hopefully, future son in law is available to help lift and carry the rads into the house this evening…

Tonight is pizza night (yours truly), hoping to avoid the disaster that was the previous pizza night last week. More of the pizza landed on the gas burner than stayed on the pizza stone. I was severely chastised.

Tomorrow we are apparently going to York castle by train. Why, I have no idea. I may find out tomorrow. Or not, as the case may be.

Sunday, staying in enjoying the central heating. If not, there will be trouble.
There is no cloud, just somebody else's computer.

F-I-l was rushed to hospital yesterday after having a seizure so ferrying the wife to the hospital and hopefully pop in at some point myself. Sunday, assuming all is well with f-I-l, over to my sisters for dinner. Everything subject to change with storm Bert looking nasty although we should swerve the worst of it here on the Essex Riveria!

Bit chilly out tonight. Just cancelled a job for tomorrow as its looking rather filthy wet up this end from 6am onwards. Sunday i was looking to fit an alternator on the camperbus. Injector seals and the bush on the Panhard Rod also but that is also wet Bert dependent.

Panhard what :D

I was drinking in a bar in Rose Street, Edinburgh for a good 8 month when 17 as it was next to my work. We went there for a night out on my 18th and the Gorillas on the door ask for ID FFS

I was in the 'Visage' nightclub in Doncaster, I'd just turned 16 and it was always hit or miss if they'd let me in.

I was chatting with some girls who let on that they were 14.

This was like 1994.

I assume your daughter has been buying pints for at least 2 years, or are kids different these days?

No idea, first time getting this far for me. I'd say they tend to drink badly at house parties, which was what we did mainly at that age.

Friday. Cover off the car at 6.30am, loaded with frost. Then wife to station, son to work and me to school to take Eucharist service. Home for a meeting with parish team, and then work out how we get the hall refurbished and what money is required. Out for lunch with a good friend, a retired priest, then home to walk the dog again. Cooked dinner, collected the wife from the station and then doing a bit of admin.

Saturday. Up late (7am) and get ready for the Advent Market we have running from 11am to 2pm. Off in the afternoon to see a friend and catch up.

Sunday. 9.30am Eucharist and Baptism service, then off to the 11.15am service and back to the first church for another Baptism at 1pm. Home to eat and sleep!

Mine is, I started drinking in the local boozer when I was 16, she rarely touches the stuff.
