Control screen/unit to act as a Jukebox??
Ok, so I think I'm looking for a unicorn again (story of my life in so many ways!! )
I have a ton of CDs and I'd love a set up that means I could have a 'master' tablet/screen/thing with everything on it and then just pick from that 'screen' to share to the speakers (probably 'something attached to a storage thing?). Probably more of a challenge, but I'm not remotely techy.
I know I can find most of the music on Spotify etc, but TBH, if I'm going to have to get all the CDs out to search for the content on Spotify, then I reckon it's worth putting them all in one place anyway?? (And I'm pretty sure there'll be some I can't find online!)
I know I can store them on things as advised in the other thread but it's having something to use as a jukebox type screen that I'd really love. (viewtopic.php?p=339311#p339311)
Is this even possible?

Use something like Windows media player and copy all your CD's to MP3 and store them in an external disk. Also use Windows Media Player to select and play them all. I am sure other programs are available.

I did this years ago and it takes forever to digitise everything. Lay the cds out, photograph them and then find them on Spotify. Then learn to play guitar and form a band and become famous with the time you’ve saved.

Either the phone you're using or an old phone / tablet set up to just play music.
The paid version of https://powerampapp.com/ lets you dick around with sound settings to your hearts content.

I built an 'appliance' using an old server and a special edition of Linux that ripped CD's, it used an internet database to get the album and track names and created a playlist for each album and saved them to my NAS. It even opened the CD drawer after every rip.
You quite literally just had to put the CD in and close the drawer, it ran completely headless.
I got bored after the 6th CD.

But what do you do with the cases once you've loaded them in?KungFooBob wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2024 11:06 am I've been googling.
I now want one of these...

Superseded by Spotify (acknowledging that it might not have everything you want).
Even bland can be a type of character

Seeing your other related post I will just outline the versatile system I have. At the heart is a very small computer running Windows 11. This has some software originally called Logitech media Server but transferred to an open source environment and renamed Lyrion.
https://forums.slimdevices.com/forum/us ... dia-server
It stores music files and allows them to be played anywhere on my network. The control interface is html based and can be run from any device with a browser, not necessarily the one which is playing the music. I won't go in to further details unless/until you need them.
Small computers don't take much power but can now be very good performers with the latest technology.

Back in the day (say 10 years ago) before I became a slave to Spotify, I used MediaMonkey to import / categorize all my CDs - worked pretty well.

Otherwise, sounds cool, but not sure I could set it up!!
