Had a couple of nice cars in yesterday, not seen either before in the flesh. Yellow Lotus Eletra and red corvette stingray.

Was told Lotus eletra makes equivalent of over 900bhp, 0 - 60 under 3 seconds. 2.5 tons, thats big bike acceleration. Lots of tyre's i imagine.

Red corvette has 6.2 L motor and sounded absolutely gorgeous.

I'll take the Stingray on looks alone.

There's a metallic BRG version of the Lotus on the Industrial Estate I work on, I pass it charging in a car park some days when I go for a walk.

It looks fucking awful.

I'd take the Corvette too. IIRC the C8 was the first to be mid engined.

Neither one floats my boat. They are fast buy ugly. The only 'supercar' that IMO looks good is a Porsche.

Someone in town has one of those Corvettes - imposing looking thing, sounds great, best version they've made for years. Out -ooks lots of the other much more expensive stuff.

It is...although GM did look into it a few times over the years. Apparently some of the old guard were annoyed it took as long as it did

Surprisingly not vastly different on price. The Lotus bargain bin spec is 'only' £90k (but I expect stuff like wheels and seats are extra ).

These are hopelessly unsuitable for UK roads. Those low profile tyres and very expensive alloys wouldn't last five minutes if the owner wanted to exploit even a fraction of the performance. First failure to avoid a pothole would be very costly. Even a parking nudge of a kerb would ruin the rims. Its becoming quite common when riding on local roads to catch some very expensive cars being driven at walking pace and wandering left and right to avoid craters. No wonder SUVs and Transits are taking over.

Yup, talk to me when they make a Transit with 400+ mile range in electric and i'll start getting somewhat tempted. Cars hold zero interest to me, fast/super cars if it's possible holds even less.

SUVs mostly seem to have equally stupid big rims now, I'm sick of expensive rim and tyre damage so wheel size is almost the first thing I look at when thinking of what to buy next.

I've no doubt the old ones were awful to drive!! There were three of them on Guernsey when I lived there. Never drove any but I could tell you which one was about to come around the corner by the engine noise!! (they were all different colours). Sounded worth the shitty drive!!

Yeah OK it wasn't up to European standards. I wouldn't say it was agricultural per se, the steering, brakes etc. were all pretty well there but the interior would have been embarrassing in a Nissan Micra and there were a lot of squeaks, rattles and hums Plus you could see the bodywork deflecting when you pulled on the door to open it.

The Engine was fun though. Even just the way it makes the whole car rock slightly when you blip the throttle was amusing.

If you're into that sort of thing though, get one of the original '63' type AMG Mercs with the 6 litre engine

Corvettes did pretty well and Le Mans too, not exactly like they're tractors.
