Recommendations for bike/garage security

Post by Docca »

I'm grateful that I've got a double garage so space isn't really an issue.

Keen to get recommendations for security. Not sure I want to go down the ground anchor route- but maybe.

Thanks :)

Mine have Almaxx Series IV locks. I have a couple of smaller locks for the other bikes... weirdly the most expensive bike doesn't have the best lock. LOL. Maybe i need to switch that about a bit.

My workshop is wooden, not sure what yours is, so not sure what to recommend.

I've got a couple of these : https://securityforbikes.com/proddetail.php?prod=ShSh (if you want one, order fast, Pragmasis are shutting down).

and large steel bars across the outsides of the doors to prevent the doors being able to be opened.

(there's only so much you can really do with wooden buildings, if the scrotes really want something, the could just cut through the walls).

If it's an up and over garage door,I have one of these. At least it'll slow them a bit,or make them move onto an easier target.

If the door is a sectional roll up & there's separate mandoor:
A couple of mole grips clamped on the tracks just above the lower rollers.

Or....

If you're not locking it to something solid (ground / wall anchor) just make sure it's properly insured and don't worry about it! :)

Yeah maybe. Everything's a trade off in some way i suppose. One advantage is living in a quiet cul-de-sac so anyone cruising will be noticed.

I have one of those and have never fitted it. I remember someone telling me it acts more as a sign you have something to nick

Mostly my thoughts really. I don't have a single bike in here i couldn't replace within an hour on Ebay like for like. If i had something really custom it may change things a bit.

Re the comment above:

Although I currently have a set of these locks on my shed :

I would hesitate to recommend them.

Mainly because a scrote (apparantly) only needs a large screwdriver like this:

To do this.

Internally, they do not seem very solid:
