Re: What do we want to argue about next?
This isn't me being an Admin here, just me being me.
Why the hell do you lot watch the news all the time, it baffles me. Today I've watched a prog about 80s women going wrestling, no not 80 years old, 1980s. I watched some cycling and a bit of lord of the rings. I've spannered MTBs, cooked food for the boy and had a bath
The world doesn't need to be horrific, it doesn't need to affect you. Does it?
If any of this shit happens that you're all predicting anywhere near me I may then worry, but for now, life's way too short.

Approximately 70% of the over 40 thousand people killed duing Israels genocidal rampage a d quest for more land are women and children. The Lancet estimates that the number of dead is actually in excess of 180,000.
Children are regularly having limbs amputed without anesthetic, The Israelis ate bombing more schools, hospitals, and universities with their Precisely targetted strikes than Hamas, and Hesbollah (sp?) ate with their supposedly indiscriminate attacks.
How does that work then? Lack of basic humanity?
In my book the people cheerleading for all this are also lacking in basic humanity and punching down against the worlds most oppressed people living in an apartied state just isn't a good look.
It doesn't make you look better, tougher or smarter.

The current unpleasantness? That Hamas lot who were in charge of Gaza.
Are they pleased with themselves, do you think?

Humanity certainly is nasty, but the Word of God as writ in eg the Bible, Koran, etc is bloody nasty too.Rockburner wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2024 10:17 pmHumanity is the nasty party using the idea of a god as an excuse.

Re: What do we want to argue about next?
Because if it can happen there, it is going to happen here.
If Trump can make it into the Whitehouse without getting assassinated, we will live in a safer world. Nationalism will find it's way back here. Nationalism and Patriotism are not dirty words in my book.
All are welcome to enjoy the peace and stability of our hard won freedoms in this secular democracy we have built. Our constitutional monarchy may be fading fast into an anachronistic throwback but it has worked well for the UK. Our Royal family is an iconic institution we can revere and be proud of or tolerate and ignore. We do not have to subscribe to any religion either and that suits me just fine.
That is starting to slip due to the stated aims and ambitions of a cruel and barbaric sect who have infiltrated our land. I don't know exactly what the answer is but it is becoming increasingly difficult, illegal even, to ask questions, let alone find solutions. Somethings got to give...

I suppose we could argue about why people are using this thread to post news when there's a perfectly good news thread and stuff about Trump when there's a perfectly good Trump thread.

Re: What do we want to argue about next?
You could say that about Hiroshima, or the black death, or millions of other things. But they didn't/don't/won't. Why not worry about it if and when it does happen ? Your (and others) lives must be a fucking nightmare where you're kept awake by this shit, lying in bed mulling over who's just about to kill who and how it will affect you directly or indirectly. Me, i'm lying there for 10s wondering whether to have sausages for tea or burgers, then Zzzzzzz.Screwdriver wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2024 11:15 pm Because if it can happen there, it is going to happen here.
There's enough in our little corner of the world for each and everyone here that is directly affectable and worrying enough in it's own right. We've all got our own little things going on, i've got a boy with a broken arm, a wife who's been away for 2 weeks and a roof that's just needed repairing... That's my concerns, things i can directly influence...
The rest... it happens somewhere in the world.

Re: What do we want to argue about next?
Sorry to hear about your lad, all part of growing up.
But no, it's nothing like "anything can happen", this push towards globalisation has to start from the most powerful and influential nation on earth. Where all the money lives.
Don't I have anything better to worry about? Well yes I do but it does mean I am stuck here with little more than an online existence while I try to figure out what if anything I am able to do to persist.
Currently that means getting rid of the old van (more tricky than it sounds) and getting a "new" one. Then I can start on the rebuild of two XT500's which I promise to share on here, pics and vids....

This isn't just about 'you' but a fair few in the forum now who all seem deeply embedded in the politics stuff constantly.... I just don't get it/them/you.
I couldn't live with all this in my head, i'm amazed you lot can.

Re: What do we want to argue about next?
It matters to my energy bill for a start!
Do you have any idea how much more we are paying for this basic necessity than almost every other nation on Earth?
Something like this from statistica:
Why do you suppose we are right up there at the top of the list?

Re: What do we want to argue about next?
Yes, it does, but
1. You can't change/affect it.
2. You can use less fuel more jumpers
3. You could sell shit
So yeah it matters, but nothing that really matters. It's simple really, you cut your cloth to resolve the situation. So pay the bill and move on... whether it's £100 a week or £80 or £120, does it really matter ?
why worry about things you can't affect directly ?
