Also Boxing, you very rarely see an old boxer without shakes, memory loss or broke.
"Of all the stories you told me, which ones were true and which ones weren't?"
"My dear Doctor, they're all true."
"Even the lies?"
"Especially the lies."

I drive that route almost every day; dropping my daughter at college.
Do drop by for a coffee if you're in Alton

This differentiation of people by sex:
I tend to judge people on personality. Rarely does it have anything to do with which set of genitals and hormones they have going on.
In my experience, some people are cunts, some people are likable, and the rest fall in between.

Ta, but rarely visit the town nowadays as rellies have moved*. And, on principle, I used to avoid popular 'biking roads' when training (eg Cliddesden, Candovers, Old Alresford instead, nicer and quieter).Docca wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 11:35 amI drive that route almost every day; dropping my daughter at college.

* There's a bend at Herriard which has high-grip surfacing. Applied after a rider ran wide and went head-on into another bike, nasty outcomes [We were going to visit rellies that day ended up detouring along little lanes] After, I was chatting to a copper, who wasn't a fan of the new surfacing - thought that it would encourage riders to go faster.
There's too many places, particularly heading North, on the 339 which can lull riders into a false sense of stupidity. Long straights leading to a series of bends. 'Waterworks' at Shalden is the worst, then around Lasham airfield is another.

Is that the "high-grip surfacing" that lasts about a month before dissolving away and leaving an extremely patchy low-grip road surface that is worse than it was before?Horse wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 12:39 pmTa, but rarely visit the town nowadays as rellies have moved*. Yeah- QMC. Now 'Outstanding'
My eldest who has just gone to Uni went there, my daughter now there and I suspect the rest will follow. Fab' college
Things I don't get:
Racism, sexism. Men who hit women. Violence of any kind, but especially men who hit women. War in general. I think I'm more of a quaker. People who can hold their attention and focus for more than 10 minutes at a time. People who think this taste in something is better than another persons'. Where to put the apostrophe in words.
Stuff I get but just don't like: jazz, soap operas (TV in general), the drive to have so many genders. Bran flakes. The Welsh.

People who can do the same job day after week after month after years ...
And not just 'factory' production line type work. There's also people who - I'm making this up as a for instance - spend their entire working life studying ants' belly button fluff. Or being an accountant.
I realised years ago that a few months is the most I can do 'the same' l. Even recently, where I'd run a year-long project, there would be different stages and activities.

Despite my tongue in cheek comments in this thread, I do agree with you. I judge people as they behave or as they behave to me.Sunny wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 11:46 am This differentiation of people by sex:

However, overall I've always found men easier to get on with than women. Not all men and not all women. It's very much a generalisation!
But yeah - personality and how they behave to people like waiters or others that can have no effect on their life (bar that particular coffee/meal etc).

I was never upset by it. The humour just totally passed me by!! Kind of annoyed me really as all my friends loved it. Some can still recite the whole film! LOL It just never made me laugh, didn't seem funny!

Just an excuse to post the video of the TV programme and the advertising. If you haven't seen the video, have a try.

Radio 1.(which I never listen to). Except I’ve tried recently, because of…
Radio 2. A pitiful shadow of its former self.
Radio 4. prime time programmes such as 9.00 Sat morning - Nicky Bedi - horrendous presenter. And all their prime time “comedy” programmes at 6.30pm with the exception of I’m Sorry I haven’t a Clue. Still funny AND clever.
Somebody must like that stuff, but not me.

Salt. I dislike it, a lot too. Spoils my meals when chefs over season the food with it. I watch people pour it all over their dinners and for me, that's just ruined a good plate of food.
