I have never understood the Monty Python films. I don't even find them funny
The sketches, yes. Films, WTF??!!
I always thought it was because I watched them sober and my friends that watched and loved them were pissed, stoned or both.
Did you have to be pissed or stoned to find them funny originally??

Life is for living. Buy the shoes. Eat the cake. Ride the bikes. Just, ride the bikes!!

I'm fairly sure I've only ever watched them sober and I still think they're hilarious. But, there's no use even trying to work out why some things are funny and some aren'tNoggin wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 5:04 pm I have never understood the Monty Python films. I don't even find them funny

Having a 'name' emblazoned on clothing, whether a trendy designer, a vehicle manufacturer or a racing team.
I'm sure Ferrari are overjoyed when people wear their £70 T-shirts. But does anyone think the wearer is part of the team, or even cares they're a fan? What does the wearer gain other than telling people how much they've spent?

Ostentatious displays of wealth. You're simply making yourself a target for the scumbags.

Err, yeahbut. Still doesn't mean I give a crap about em.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 3:34 pm Even if you don't like football/boxing/golf/competitive tiddlywinks I'd have thought you'd at least get the idea of why people like competitive pastimes?
And if even if you don't like football you probably like motorcycle racing, for example, which is basically the same thing bar a few details
You don't have to like the specific to understand why other people do
And golf? Sport?
I refer to the Ernest Hemmingways quote "There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely games".
Zero interest in bullfighting mind, thats just cruelty for cruelties sake.
Other people like some things I don't care about, thats fine as long as its not hurting anyone.
I might not get something, others do. They likely don't get some things I do.

Living in a city or just visiting one for pleasure.
I can’t for the life of me see why anyone would choose to be closely surrounded by hoards of other people. I tolerate it on my occasional visit to Twickenhan, other than that I stay well clear.

Influencers.
They're literally just saying whatever someone is paying them to say. Every time I read that some new takeaway is a "game changer" I want to beat someone to death.
Even worse is that people actually listen to them.

Re: Things you don't 'get' that others do?
When I lived on the border of the enclosed land to the open fells I never "Got" the idea of living in a city, after moving to a village then to a small city it's not so bad.
Middle of nowhere we did basically whatever the fuck we damn well pleased, there was nobody about to stop us.
In the city everyone lives kind of close so they don't stress so much about someone just doing whatever.
In terms of area I can walk about on there's parks and streets, rivers and railway lines to follow, it's not far off the atea on the open fells.
The one I just couldn't get on with at all was villages. Very little space you can go for a walk about on and I felt like we were living in each others pockets.
Two public footpaths maybe a mile in total, a road and maybe a tiny village green.
Bollocks to that.
Middle of nowhere or in town for me, the mid ground did my ferkin head in.

Don’t try to understand women, women understand women and they hate each other!
