That's a bit of an ask for ANY car.Cousin Jack wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 8:34 am And I also want a decent residual value after 10 years and 100k miles.
Quick example, here's a list of 10 year old BMWs with >100k on them, they've all lost 80-90% of their value with a very few exceptions for 'special' stuff.

EDIT: I was talking to my (EV owning) Mum about this the other day, it's also something we talk about alot at work of course. The degradation of EV battery performance is nothing like as bad as everyone knows™ it is. The depreciation curve is also not as bad as everyone knows it is. But it basically doesn't matter, because EVERYONE KNOWS EV's lose value really quickly and their batteries die quickly. Thus is becomes a self perpetuating prophecy, it basically doesn't matter what the actual numbers say People think EVs lose value quickly, so they do.
It's just like how everyone knows there are no high power chargers in the UK, when there are in fact hundreds - probably actually thousands - by now.
Or how everyone knows the "EV bubble has burst" when sales continue their upward trend. https://www.transportxtra.com/publicati ... tive-month
I can't see a way out of that 'loop' other than for more people to have EVs and the general public perception to change through experience.
