Dragging clutch usually has one (or both) of two causes - assuming adjustment isn't wrong. The plates may have warped from heavy use - repeated racing starts can cause this. So when the lift the springs the plates still remain in contact. Or the centre and basket may have notched, again can be caused by heavy use or just wear. When that happens the plates tend to sit in the notches rathe than moving apart to free. The only cure is a complete new clutch.
