EICMA 2024

Post by KungFooBob »

Show time, few new bikes being revealed.

Cheesy might like this one...

https://www.facebook.com/share/v/146vrCwjXN/

Suzuki reveal the new DR-Z 4S and 4SM!

πŸ‘‰ New 398cc single-cylinder engine
πŸ‘‰ Electronics package including power modes, switchable ABS, and a sophisticated traction control system with off-road modes
πŸ‘‰ KYB long travel suspension
πŸ‘‰ Wire spoked 21” front and 18” rear on the 4S, and 17” rims on the SM
πŸ‘‰ 920mm (4S) and 890mm (4SM), weighing 151kg and 154kg respectively
πŸ‘‰ Twin-spar steel frame with a separate, bolt-on aluminium subframe
πŸ‘‰ Aluminium swingarm

Although he'll probably point out it's 20kg heavier than the old one.

I hope they’ve sorted that godawful seat out and a bigger tank would have been nice.

Might have a look when they hit the showroom.

I'd also point out that pending power (not mentioned) it's the same weight but likely to be 30bhp short of a KTM 690.

And far less likely to self destruct :)

True, although the 2019 on 690 engines are pretty much bullet proof. Which considering their power output is impressive. The dashes though, not so much and who knows with the electrics. There were a bunch of 690s with over 40k miles on them when I last looked on the forum and one older style one that got to 90k before the rockers went.

The 790/890 however

Honda technical demonstrator...

Our engineers have reimagined the future of high-efficiency, high-output ICE with the new water-cooled V3 engine.❄️

Featuring the world’s first electrical compressor for motorcycles, it delivers high-response torque from lower rpm, compact design, fast response, and low weight. The future is here! πŸš€

Leccy powered supercharger... I might fit some pc case fans to the airbox on my Gold Star!

Shows that petrol isn't dead if Honda are still spending on R&D for this kind of thing.

Tech aside that looks more exciting than almost anything Honda have put out for some time. The frame's lovely.

As for the tech - if this makes it to production I'm going to refer to it as the 'Leaf Blower'.

Quite an interesting EICMA so far.

They should have done a 'Classic' before the Inty and the GT, imho. Not that the others two were bad sellers :)

More Crap than News has some extra deets on the Homda V3...

https://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/202 ... /honda-v3/

I quite like the idea of a V3, I wonder how the character of a V3 compares to a IL3. There must be some advantage cos a V3 has to cost more to build from a materials POV?

It's a lovely render :) so I suspect some distance from even being a running prototype...

OK, I take that back - I hadn't seen the video. I'm still doubtful it's going to be appearing any time soon. We'll see.
