My Dad used to nick strepsils and told us they were sweets when he worked at Boots. Enough to put kids off 'sweets' for life and we still got sore throats :?

Not nostalgic, but in choccie bar news, I just found out Tunnucks now do their caramel wafers clad in dark chocolate. I haven't tried one yet...

Same for biscuit factories, I worked at McVities for a month, hated the sight of biscuits after a week

One of the farm shops near me sells every product that Tunnocks makes..... Last year (iirc) I bought one of everything. The Caramel Wafer is definitely the best product they do.

Did they stock the Caramel Log? Loganair used to have them as an inflight snack option on the Glasgow flight from here but stopped as they were too messy.

That's good, Caramel Logs are quite south of the border IME.

I liked a Cabana before they started murdering children and making biological weapons

I liked Secret bars, probably because I had a huge crush on the woman in the advert.

Pyramint was lovely, they were about 35p in 1988.

I was going to say Secret bars too. They were lush. I seem to recall that they were so expensive to manufacture they were effectively loss-making, hence they stopped making them 😭

Yup, guy who ran out local shop said they were a lot more expensive to buy wholesale than anything else.

My brother and I ate so many that we were ill and took a day off school. I haven't eaten them since, nor a Mars bar or Marathon (Snickers). To this day I don't eat much chocolate and don't crave it.
When I was a courier, Mars drop offs or collections always used to be fought over, for 50p the reception ladies would sell you a carrier bag full of assorted Mars products.

Later I worked on the Slough Trading Estate and the ladies at work used to bring bags in.

I blame Mars for me being a fat bastard :angry-cussingblack:

My wife was a sales rep for Wrigley and then Mars when they were bought out for 17 years.

I could have all the gum I wanted until the Mars deal, she got very very little in the way of chocolate samples.

But the Mars staff shop was plenty cheap, wife used to bring back bags of the bloody stuff on the rare occasion she had to go in to the office.
