Russian sabotage? It’s a very tempting target.
Or just a fire? It’s an industrial yard.

The country is in mourning and most Halloween stuff is being cancelled.
Just seen on FB that many of our local pubs are stopping it.

Just wondering how much money is being sent to aid this catastrophe especially from all the other countries that have benefitted from help previously? I suspect none.

You think Haiti should send money to Spain?

No fatalities this time, fortunately.

If they have any excess aid funding knocking about, why not or should it be one way only?

Such a click bait image, which shows no respect to what's actually happened. Hardly surprising it's a yank that has done this.

Not blaming you Taipan for posting this, jut the idiot who over enhanced reality.

I'm betting it's AI generated.

Maybe, or just the usual editing tools that have been used for quite a few years to create click bait thumbnails on Youtube.

It's a montage of videos that have been circulating here since the event. If you're on Facebook take a look at the N332 page, it a page run by the local traffic police. There is no AI.

I think people are merely objecting to the obviously "crafted' thumbnail image, not the video content.

It's a YouTube phenomena using outrageously over the top thumbnails for click through and therefore inappropriate (I think() for a subject like this.

I didn't even think bout the thumbnail, just tried to (quickly) find one with varied footage and without BBCs/Sky news etc introduction.

A bit more about the storm from the Guardian

"In the worst affected areas more than 400 litres of rain per square metre fell on Tuesday. Rubén del Campo, a spokesman for Spain’s meteorological agency, told El País: “A relatively strong storm, a powerful downpour, like those we see falling in spring or summer, can be 40 or 50 litres per square metre. This practically multiplies it by 10.”

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/ ... sual-guide

It's raining again in Valencia now with a yellow storm warning for tomorrow. Thankfully Tuesdays storms went north and south of me, all I got was a couple of wet days, the lightning show on the horizon was spectacular.

I was referring to the still image that advertises the video. The body of the video is clearly 'real' footage, but that initial image looks like it's advertising a 70s disaster movie...

Because they are very poor countries and Spain is comparatively wealthy. Surely you know this. Is this lining up for some sort of 'looking after our own' rhetoric. I don't think this is the place for that. Nor is there one, outside of the Good Old Tommy arenas.

That feels like a really weird way of phrasing it, but I suppose it makes sense.

400litres per square metre is 400mm (or just under 16", if that's your persuasion) of rain - which to put in perspective, is about a half or a third of what you'd see in the UK all year. And the UK isn't exactly dry!
