Valencia floods threaten season-ending GP
It seems like the circuit itself has been unaffected, but approach roads and general infrastructure have taken a hit. If the Valencia GP has to be cancelled, this would favour Jorge Martin as that would mean this weekend's Sepang GP would essentially be the season-ending GP, and Martin currently has a 17 point lead over Pecco.

Re: Valencia floods threaten season-ending GP
I doubt if they'll have time to book another venue this late,so they'll either have to run Valencia,or as you say,end the season at Sepang.
I bet George Martin would like that better than Bagpuss.

I hope they do manage to run the weekend - for their sake as well as for me being able to watch people go round in circles on motorbikes - but I'm not optimistic.
George taking the title in Malaysia seems more likely.

Maybe they could settle it at the Mallory Plum Pudding meeting?

Re: Valencia floods threaten season-ending GP
I was just about to start a thread about this, a bit of a bugger because I have a ticket.

So that's a definite no then.

€130 all day long. I can't see MotoGP giving refunds so they'll make it valid for Philip Island or some such nonsense.

Re: Valencia floods threaten season-ending GP
Both Marc and Alex Marquez have pointed to the fact that there are large numbers of homeless and displaced people as a result of the flooding, and that the death toll will very likely pass 100, and say that primary efforts should be concentrated on feeding and re-homing those affected rather than re-building the approach road to a race circuit. They stopped short of calling for the GP to be cancelled, but reading between the lines I'd say that's what they were inferring.
Have to admit, they really do have a point.

Re: Valencia floods threaten season-ending GP
In truth, there wasn't any other realistic outcome. To proceed with a motorcycle race in a region where so much has been devastated and where the death toll is still rising would be grotesquely insensitive.

I wonder if the factory Ducati team will 'influence' a replacement venue to suit Pecco...

That'll be Qatar then, although Silverstone the week before Christmas would be fun.

Pecco had already said he wouldn't race Valencia, no matter what.

Re: Valencia floods threaten season-ending GP
Its no wonder that it has been cancelled-the clean up operation here will take a long time.
There are no intercity trains running from Valencia, and no one knows how long it will take to repair the infrastructure.
I live about an hour ride south of some of the towns that have be devastated. The cancellation of the MotoGP is insignificant to us all here at present.
I have 3 mates coming over for it. I'd rather my ticket money go to help those affected, rather than be refunded to me.

Re: Valencia floods threaten season-ending GP
Rather than give me tickets for the race somewhere else, they can give my refund to the people here that have nothing now-they need it more than me.
