Popped a Norco.
Just poured diet coke down my shirt.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Up early enough to sort breakfast and coffee for the wife. Then out to do some shopping for my daughter. Back home, emails and getting ready for Sunday's service. Then down to Maidstone, daughter to clinic. Back home, then I went to the hospital on the bike (free parking and quicker) and said prayers for the dying over a lady who is now in a coma. They kept delaying her operation and now she has sepsis as the infection spread. Then visited another parishioner who broke her hip on Sunday, surgery yesterday and bouncing back well. She is keen to head home and be independent, she is 83 years young and such a joy. Home to walk the dog and cook dinner. Bible study tonight with a lovely group of people and then onwards to sleep!
Proverbs 17:9
One who forgives an affront fosters friendship, but one who dwells on disputes will alienate a friend.

Had a lovely afternoon in Chester with two women whom I've known since the start of secondary school - tapas, a spot of day-drinking and lovely company.

No chance - that's what one of their husbands would say!
Nothing happened, they're just both very important friends and it was a really lovely afternoon, even the German wine was good.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Stressing, a LOT!!
Have to complete a professional dossier by Thursday!! LOL I've compiled a load of papers, now just need to actually put them all in the form/document. Should be easy, my kind of thing. But as with all kinds of paperwork stuff - I'm excellent at doing stuff for work or for other people, but doing it for myself I'm all kinds of shit!!
Tomorrow is mostly a revision day, so the laptop will be going into school with me and I'll try and collate it all then. Doesn't help that I've been spoken at in French a LOT this week (classroom stuff!) and my brain is melting
Here's hoping I can sort this shit tomorrow!!!

Not today (actually last Saturday...tardy, I know): saw my first domestic Christmas tree of 2024, proudly erected in somebody's bay window.
Christmas tree before Hallowe'en? Impressive.

All aboard the Peckham Pigeon! All aboard!

Taxed my car today! I sorn'ed it last month to see if I'd actually miss it and if I did, I'd still stick the month out to see if i could get used to not having it as i've been questioning the cost of keeping it. Suffice to say i did miss it and its going nowhere!

Better start than if you'd got it in the face instead of the greenhouse

Sat in my office watching the builder grafting laying 206 sq m on Limestone
Got the tree surgeon arriving soon to quote for trimming the pesky Oaks and also to drop off a builders sack of Ash for the log burner.

More like I get charged for them to take away and then I buy back as seasoned logs next year!Taipan wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 1:59 pmSell them the cuts of oak for a discount!v8-powered wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 1:37 pm Sat in my office watching the builder grafting laying 206 sq m on Limestone

Had an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm scan. Seems as I’m now old Northamptonshire NHS do this as a one off to see if I’ve got one building!
Nice chat with the girls doing it as I was in uniform, radio on, mobile rang twice while I was there and they mentioned stress of your job doesn’t help!!
I the NHS!

Re: What have you done today thread?
Had a lie in this morning, followed by a swift trip to Aldi to see what they have in their Premium Wine selection. IMO they sometimes have some real gems at VERY reasonable prices.
This afternoon Mrs CJ and myself had afternoon tea at the local posh hotel, courtesy of a voucher from daughter for our 2023 Xmas present. Sandwiches (crusts cut off, natuarlly), scones with cream and jam, and a large raft of fancy cakes. Wife is stuffed, I am stuffed, and we have a cardboard box with 6 or 7 sweet fancies that we couldn't manage to eat.
Now contemplating the merits of red wine or beer. Decisions, decisions!
