What Karaoke Song Would You Sing
I don't do Karaoke, not even when very, very drunk and I doubt most of you do either, but, if you did, what song would you murder?

Re: What Karaoke Song Would You Sing
I loathe Karaoke with every fibre of my being, but a work colleague opened my eyes while we were drinking heavily in Aberdeen on Friday night and found ourselves in a Karaoke bar: rap
Specifically, she did Eminem's 'Lose Yourself'. It was genius. So I reckon House of Pain 'Jump Around', next time I'm forced into it

Something instrumental - I have at least some empathy.
I was once told that I'm pitch-perfect but completely tone-deaf...

I'd probably do something by Leonard Cohen
Oh, hang on, nope on second thoughts '16 Shells From A Thirty-Ought-Six' by Tom Waits'll have 'em rocking in the aisles. (Or make sure they get the mic off me pronto ).
Only ever been involved in one karaoke session - office Christmas lunch in, of all places, a Chinese restaurant. Most of us mumbled our way through something then Doug, the Facilities Manager, got the mic. Stone the crows The best Elvis impersonator - ever - we all just sat there with jaws on the floor, he was simply epic.

Elvis Costello.s version of 'What's so funny 'bout Peace, Love and Understanding'.
That should get the mic taken off me double quick.

Boy Named Sue is easy as it's pretty much spoken, not sung.
That said I would probably do something by Stakka Bo.

Re: What Karaoke Song Would You Sing
Singing Karaoke is one of my primal fears - along with the dream about walking around a supermarket naked.
But then I went out with a load of Singapore Chinese and Japanese - and we were drinking Chinese whiskey ( and I had Shingles but didn't know it at this time). And we ended up in a Karaoke Bar, and I have no idea what we sang - but "Don't Stop Believin'" featured somewhere.
I got over the fear - so it was kind of cathartic.
If I had to do it again:
Reason to Believe - Rod Stewart
Atmosphere - Joy Division
Referring to the Count's suggestion, I would love to sing "Famous Blue Raincoat", "Hey, That's No Way to Say Goodbye" or "So Long Marianne" but that would be horrible

Re: What Karaoke Song Would You Sing
Considering in my youth I'd comfortably sing solo in front of large audiences and was told I had a great voice, karaoke puts the fear of the imagined being up me.
So my answer would be the request that poor singers would typically be asked sing.... "Can you sing Far Away?'
As an aside, I was in Pennsylvania with a friend by the name of Doug Shupinsky. Ex marine and mad as hell. We're in a bar laughing at the really bad karaoke when the MC calls out for Dougie to take the mic.
He sang a Hooty and the Blowfish number and brought the house down.
He was a regular singer and was fantastic. Never told anyone about it.
