Re: In todays news...
This probably doesn't qualify as an intelligent response, but it's the nearest so far since you postedScrewdriver wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 3:55 pmWell I suppose ignorance is bliss.
The reality is that ... the plan is there for all to see if only they could be bothered.
... the rich middle class this system will destroy. That's most of you incidentally...
Having said that, this is more of a cathartic expression than the vain hope that I will receive any intelligent response to this rant.
With the majority ignorant of what is happening, and many preferring to deny or ignore, leads to the question:
What can anyone of us do about it?
And, in some ways, is what they are planning perhaps a 'modern day's version of how the world has worked in the past? Feudal systems, landed gentry, truck tokens, etc.
If, realistically, there's nothing we can do, then yes, ignorance is bliss. And worrying won't change anything.

Re: In todays news...
Have you been listening to Bill Gates? Not only is that the sort of thing that particular devils seed would endorse, pretty sure he actually did do something like that through his WHO* plaything. Something about Africans only getting access to drugs if they were sterilised. He's been involved in enough of that sort of fascist behaviour before.
Pound to a penny Gates was behind the murder of Epstein for example. While few will mourn the loss of that evil creature, does make you wonder why Epstein's little black book is so jealously guarded.
I see another idiotic logic bomb up there which I only described a few moments ago. Our system of social justice is being subverted by a cabal of billionaire elites, Trump is a billionaire therefore he is determined to subvert our systems. Well, that particular cat is not a dog, neither is Musk imho.
*The WHO is effectively owned by Bill Gates for those not paying attention.

Nope. It is your interpretation of what I am actually saying which is mistaken. Either deliberately or because you might be a bit dim. Perhaps I could draw you a Venn diagram? You can read pictures yes?

Let's face it, we are in the end game of Western democracy/capitalism. It will drag on a few more decades, getting more excessive in all sorts of unpleasant ways. What comes next? Your guess is as good as mine, and I don't have a clue.

Sadly I think you're right. One thing that is happening right in front of our eyes is the destruction of European society.Cousin Jack wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 10:43 pm Let's face it, we are in the end game of Western democracy/capitalism. I assume he and his lady have gained residency, so I doubt it. I'd like to hear his take on how this is viewed in the native and ex-pat communities though. Is it A Thing or is it just British newspapers sensationalising stuff?Cousin Jack wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2024 6:43 pmDoes this mean they will be sending Yorick back?mangocrazy wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2024 5:25 pm Thousands protest against over-tourism in Canary islands, and UK tourists warned that the Canary Islands have 'reached their limit'.

I always assumed an ex-pat was someone working in foreign parts and will return home to Blighty. We're immigrants, and proud of it.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2024 6:48 pmI assume he and his lady have gained residency, so I doubt it. The main problem is that the Spanish authorites have let tourism in the form of short term holiday lets on properties get out of control. It's much more profitable to let a property via AirBnB than it is to rent it long term to a local. This has led to property prices, both for renting and buying go up to the point that locals are now priced out of the market and are very pissed off about it. It's not only the Islands although they seem to suffer the most (prices on Ibiza are ridiculous), cities are finding themselves in a similar situation. Barcelona is one example where people are being evicted from flats because landlords can make many times more money as an AirBnB. Then there's the drought problem. The whole place is on it's knees with a water shortage and it's reckoned that tourists use a lot more than the locals.
Things aren't helped by the fact Spain is mostly governed regionally so there's no coherent central policy on to approach the problem. Here in Valencia there are new laws to try and put the genie back in the lamp. From memory, any property let longer than nine days is now regarded as a long term let which means very different rules for landlords. Anyone caught breaking this rule is up for a big fine. All guests in the property are registered so you can't have in your name this week and your mates name next week. Holiday lets are already licensed but these will be rolled back, I think it's back to 2018. Anyone who's bought a property after that will have any tourist license recinded. There's a load more but I can't remember it all.

You don't get the full story from the crappy UK press.Cousin Jack wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2024 6:43 pmDoes this mean they will be sending Yorick back?mangocrazy wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2024 5:25 pm Thousands protest against over-tourism in Canary islands, and UK tourists warned that the Canary Islands have 'reached their limit'.
