They couldn't even if they wanted to presumably, you can't just publicly announce who worked for you?

Exactly that. I expect they have the same data protection laws we do.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 9:16 pm They couldn't even if they wanted to presumably, you can't just publicly announce who worked for you?

Sorry, McDonalds haven't confirmed or denied.

Why are you singling out Musk?Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 1:31 pm I know Musk is not a candidate, he's a private individual with his own money etc. etc.
But I dunno, it doesn't feel like that should be legal
The ENTIRE democrat election process is being funded by half a dozen billionaires, not to mention their use of state/federal resources. Now that is illegal...

You realise Musk gets less than half the amount being paid to Boeing for essentially doing the same job - sending crew ships up to the ISS. NASA have to be impartial and develop competition. Not much of a competition in reality, SpaceX launches are (iirc) an order of magnitude cheaper than anyone elses!Count Steer wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 1:51 pm
(I'd be raising an eyebrow and coughing politely if I was in charge of the $billions of US taxpayers money that get shovelled into SpaceX - for example).
SpaceX send crewed ships up to the ISS so often it's like they're running a bus service. Boeing almost made one trip in a mission plagued with problems which left the astronauts stranded up there until SpaceX can rescue them.

Completely beside the point though. NASA funnel taxpayers money into a company and help it become worth (on paper) >$200 billion. Bloke with most stake in the company uses his wealth to try to influence election in a questionably legal manner and may, just possibly, think that gives leverage on his preferred candidate, should they win and might wish to influence government policy on China (and imports from) where he has quite a lot invested.
Sure, businesses lobby all the time but not quite the same as shelling out $millions to try and buy votes in swing states quite so blatantly.
If, say, an ex-Microsoft bloke had done the same for the Democrats they'd hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth on Mars.

The headline: Donald Trump's McDonald's day job was ‘staged’, Redditors ‘expose’ photo-op.
And there was me thinking Trump was a bit short of cash so he had to do a shift at McDonalds.

Yes I agree, it is "besides the point" because all you want to know is "does it do the job its being paid for". Currently: SpaceX yes, Boeing, no.Count Steer wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2024 9:21 amYes.Screwdriver wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 9:53 pmYou realise Musk gets less than half the amount being paid to Boeing for essentially doing the same job - sending crew ships up to the ISS....Count Steer wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 1:51 pm

I would just like to remind you that it was you who decided to make an issue over costs because now that Musk is supporting Trump, SpaceX = bad.

I pointed out that Musk is benefitting from NASA/taxpayer's money then using his wealth to manipulate politics for his own potential benefit. No comment made at all on whether the SpaceX people are good at what they do. You misread my post.

Ok well, yes, Elon Musk and every other business in the entire universe needs to make money. Even the ones that work for government contracts through a state supported agency. As it happens, SpaceX are (incredibly) an order of magnitude cheaper than the next nearest competitor. FYI, that means ten times. So you have decided to single out Elon Musk obviously because he is supporting a political view you do not agree with.
Conspicuous by its absence is any criticism of the political supporters on the left who use their billions rather more covertly. People like George Soros, Mark Zuckerberg, The Clinton Foundation, Bill Gates, Obama (he is a fuck site more wealthy than you might think...)
So rather than try some vain attempt at gaslighting me (your democrat/lefty liberal/labour party are much better at gaslighting than you are) you cannot throw my observation of your actions back at me. You are the one who has singled out Elon Musk due to his role in SpaceX to suggest he is "misusing" the "taxpayers money" that SpaceX is making simply on the grounds that you don't agree with his political opinion.
I read very well thank you. I know exactly what you are suggesting, even if you don't.

Yes and @Mr. Dazzle is as guilty as you are of cherry picking to support their own political agenda.

I'd raise the same eyebrow if Kelly Ortberg started to publically spend money trying to swing the election (in either direction).

As I understand it, Musk is asking people to sign a petition supporting the first and second amendments of the US constitution. I don't believe he's restricted it to Republicans. I see no reason why Democrats can't sign the petition, after all, most of them support the constitution, don't they? I know their presidential candidate recently expressed her support of the second amendment.

Apparently I'm 'cherry picking' and 'singling out' Elon Musk by commenting on an article about Elon Musk and saying what he's doing strikes me as illegal.
Of course, by not posting an essay about how other people do the same thing I'm serving left wing MSM media. I probably should have mentioned something about slavery reparations and trans rights too at the same time.
