Re: In todays news...
Imo, an Englishman to manage the national side is the right way, problem is, there ain't any up for it.
Don't matter in the league, foreign players and all that, but a squad of English man with an English manager does make sence to me.

Re: In todays news...
Agreed it should have been an Englishman. I don't really follow football so not exactly versed in managerial choices, but I gather him being a German isn't a WW2 issue , or suchlike, more that they are our biggest rivals. Sort of fox in charge of the chicken coop if you will. I imagine there'd be equal furore if Southgate started managing Germany!

Re: In todays news...
Makes no difference who manages the England team, when 50+ % of players (conservative guess on my part) in the English league teams are from foreign shores then the country team will always be at a disadvantage.
Anyway football is a business not a sport, so holds as much interest as watching an episode of the apprentice for me.

As I read the DM article, they're disgusted that a forriner has been appointed, but would have been ok with a forriner called Pep.

They might respect the memory of the former owner, Lord Rothermere - a bit at least. He was mates of Adolf and Benito and guided the paper to support them. He probably wouldn't have worried much.
No sense of history some 'newspapers'.

Re: In todays news...
Southgate got England further than they've got in 5 or 6 decades, more than once, yet he's still a failure who had to quit apparently. So I'm not surprised that people don't want the job.

Probably good to employ the best person for the job rather than be swayed by Brexity racialists.

Even Labour voters are defecting to Reform now. I trust you'll treat Prime Minister Farage with due reverence!MyLittleStudPony wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 4:12 pm Probably good to employ the best person for the job rather than be swayed by Brexity racialists.

That's who Farage said he was going after next, like pro-Brexit Labour voters it's no surprise.Taipan wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 10:59 amEven Labour voters are defecting to Reform now. How hard is it to exercise a bit of self control, be it with calories or alcohol? Half the world is dying from starvation whilst the other half are dying from gluttony.
And what is the answer? We normalise it by being 'body proud' and decrying any criticism as 'body shaming'.
For the record, my last health check had me as being on the cusp of overweight, so I'm no six-packed, ripped Adonis, but if I got to the point where my weight needed managing through a magic injection rather than self discipline, I'd have to start questioning my life choices.

Him and George Soros seem to be at the centre of every bloody weirdos conspiricy theory to the point where its almost a litmus test for sanity.

Re: In todays news...
Aww. Bless. Well I suppose ignorance is bliss.
For the record and once again, no I do not believe in chemtrails, vaccine implants, the earth is not flat and Neil Armstrong did land on the moon.
Yes, plenty of nutjobs out there believe all sorts of nonsense including a fair few of you above who believe that if a nutjob believes in <a conspiracy> then anyone who has an opinion regarding a conspiracy is a nutjob. My dog has four legs and there are four legs on my cat, therefore it is a dog. It is a tired and boring argument made by low value individuals.
The ignorance of logic is breathtaking but it is an argument plenty of fools rely on to keep their minds closed to the reality of our current situation.
The reality is that the WEF is attempting to subvert democracy by taking over the entire mainstream media industry, the entire online community, teaching, food production, you name it. It is a classic plan which has been played out multiple times over history, the only difference being the technology which has made such plans less bloody, better hidden and far more viable.
The ultimate ambition of the WEF is laid out in "the Great Reset". A plan hatched by the WEF, supported by people like Gates (above), Obama (who has also visited Sir Kier), the Clintons and the entire permanent staff in the Whitehouse.THAT plan is not strictly speaking a conspiracy per se because the plan is there for all to see if only they could be bothered.
Lets just say the vast majority of the rich and powerful are in cahoots. They are changing the global system of governance to so that the world becomes literally a totalitarian global state run by these elites. It is no accident that westernised countries are being flooded with immigrants, they are being weaponised against the indigenous peoples of western democracies in order to subvert our social systems and to place power into the hands of corporate entities. We are right now on the very edge of having a law of blasphemy which for a so called "atheist" (and so called cisgender) is yet another authoritarian power they have granted for themselves.
I am much more worried about the clutter in my shed than all this nonsense due to my age and financial status. I'll be long dead before we have a militarised police agency and they can't take away what I ain't got. In fact, it probably will benefit me hugely since I am not one of the rich middle class this system will destroy. That's most of you incidentally...
The removal of free speech is the thing that annoys me most so I am grateful to @weeksy for keeping this platform going. Having said that, this is more of a cathartic expression than the vain hope that I will receive any intelligent response to this rant.
May you live in interesting times.
