AFAIK nobody has actually tried 'drone swarms' yet. The US is working on unmanned 'buddy' aircraft, same plane but without a pilot using a mixture of AI and command linkage.

Re the unmanned 'buddy' aircraft, it was reported last week that the Russians had to shoot down (by the manned aircraft) an unmanned 'buddy' drone. They then put a missile into the crash site.

Yup. The gist of it is there though. I gather, if it can get close enough to get into an actual dogfight, the Typhoon outmanouevres the F35...not surprising. It may have been part of the 1v1 exercise at Ramstein, they included Rafales, Hornets and all sorts.

The Eurofighter scored a 'kill'. However, the German pilot admitted that had it been a real encounter, he'd have never got close close enough for that kill. The F35 isn't made for dogfights (the US has the F15/16/22's for that). If the F35 finds itself in a dogfight, something has gone drastically wrong.

For making things go away at ground level, then yeah, not a sexy aircraft though, and a goat farmer in a biplane with a blunderbuss could probably take it out in a straight air fight

Good point, I do always enjoy seeing the non tooled up variants when they give low fly bys over where I live, but even with a howitzer its no different from lipstick on a pig.

Not sure if there's any still flying. I know they dig them up from Russian bogs and lakes every once in while.
