Did my monthly shop today and I came out to find some lanky streak of piss casually pasting up this nonsense.

So I ask him "what the fuck is this?", "we are the revolutionary communist party"

"You're fucking kidding" I tell him as I tear them off and rip them up.

"Please don't do that", he says, unexpectedly politely. In hindsight, it was probably a good idea on his part coz I'm not having that shit in my manor!

He wandered off so I just stood there watching. He sort of dithered about, made some calls and decided discretion was the best part of valour. I dropped off my shopping back home, disarmed just in case (I carry a slightly naughty multitool), picked up a scraper (which might also be classed as a weapon) and went back out to find him and his stupid posters.

No sign of him but I managed to find a few more posters to destroy.

Is this what Labour and Starmer are doing to our country? Never seen anything like it. I mean fucking commies for fucks sake... :angry-cussingblack:
So in a nutshell, no one is allowed to have a different political viewpoint to you. And if they dare to advertise their viewpoint, you'll go out of your way to try ensure that no one else sees it.
Tell me again how democracy is being eroded by the left

Haha, no that”s fine. Finding god was a giveaway.

On the other hand, I do take the idea seriously since there is every possibility such a scenario may happen.

How else do our politicians persuade us to vote for them? Compelling speeches? Yes of course. A thorough knowledge of political history, economics, current affairs? Ideally yes. At what stage will an A.I. be significantly better than any human at such subjects? Are we there now?

Here’s the crunch: where do we, the populace, find out about the shenanigans of our elected leaders? Online of course and that is why censorship is about to become even more strict with the rise of A.I.

Musk spotted this pretty early on and without X, the Internet would be one giant propaganda machine with a smattering of disconnected social media (like this very website). I strongly suspect these are the last days for such unmoderated content. Make hay while the sun shines….

Are you seriously conflating Starmer and the 'Revolutionary Communist Party'? He probably detests them almost as much as you.
...
But only because they are The People's Popular Front and he is The Popular People's Front.

Does make you wonder if they can get at Trump, what they might try to do with Elon.

I would hope he has some pretty fierce security because I can't see the democrats being happy at his support for Trump. Best case scenario they find some way to "ban" X prior to the election. Worst case, they have a crack at taking out Musk.

You are joking, right?
I'm very much behind Ukraine where the war is concerned, but even I can see that I'm being fed what X thinks I want to see, based on my search criteria and the 2 accounts that I follow. If X was my only source of news, I'd firmly believe that Russia was getting its arse kicked and hadn't made any gains over the past few months. I don't use X much and can only remember inputting one search topic: 'Ukraine'. Had I input 'Russia' and followed 2 pro-Russian accounts, I've no doubt I'd be getting a completey different view of the war in my feed.
Why can I see that and you can't?

I guess it’s because you’re not using multiple sources. FWIW I don’t “use” X for information on what’s really/apparently happening in Ukraine so I can’t comment on the veracity of any info that may be on there. I imagine it is a minefield of disinformation like everywhere else except for one crucial difference: the disinformation is not quite so severely skewed to fall in line with left wing propaganda.

I think I started monitoring X simply because it carried Tucker Carlson. Even he has strayed wide of the mark recently (imho) but can sometimes provide food for thought at least. Dan Bongino is another good source who often pops up on X.

I remember several conversations I had in the past complaining of extreme censorship on say, FaceBook and being lambasted for it. Now of course that’s all been outed and it transpires these big tech companies have been infested with state operatives etc.

What is it precisely that you think I can’t see anyway? Why don’t you just ask me what I think rather than telling me?

When I open a new tab the system gives me suggestions for news stories.

Some recently on Russian gains. Perhaps the Google (or whoever) algorithm didn't get the memo ...

Personally think that we, as a nation should dump the fptp and constituencies, and go for PR, which although less 'personal' than the current system does mean your vote actually matters.
It would make things harder to govern, but should put a stop to the lobbying and backslapping we have now!

What we have is a form of PR, just further down the scale than some would like. The extreme other end is where every law change is subject to a referendum, so different parties will just pick the version they think will benefit them most.

I fail to see anything proportional in our FPTP system. Reform polled 14.3% of the overall vote and were rewarded with precisely 4 seats out of 650. Labour polled 33.7% of the vote and were rewarded with 411 seats.

Proportional my arse.

Personally I think if we don't have PR then we should at least have an elected Lords.

PR would stop all the boundary manipulation that successive govts spend millions on to dilute voting patterns.
The irony of PR (according to the last election) is the party that has been demanding it would have fewer seats than reform and find themselves as the fourth UK political party.
The current system is a convenient status quo for the current policy makers.
Personally I'd love to see the mess the greens would make of govt!

You mean approximately 4 seats, i.e. precisely 5 seats.

Your point is still valid. ;)
