Bet that depends on the pads though. The ones @weeksy had in his XSR were bordering on OTT.

Not sure what's in my GSXS, they are Brembo calipers and the brakes aren't magic with the OE pads. Apparently new pads makes a big difference. Might put new ones in over winter.

They were official Brembo pads. Had to put them back in a while ago when I let the replacements wear too far.
Still shite :D

Brembo also own SBS though right, and don't people rave about their pads?

Maybe they deliberately put shite pads in their OEM stuff :D

More likely Suzuki asked them to provide a pad that was in a certain price range, conformed to environmental standards in all markets and wouldn't over wear the disks during the warranty period and wouldn't be intimidating for novice riders.

From the article linked above:

"The Swedish suspension giant Ohlins has been bought in its eternity by the Italian Braking behemoth Brembo"

The Brembo pads are awesome, just depends what set up you have and what Brembo pads you have. The GSXR are notorious for having shit brakes, always been that way from factory.

I swapped the Brembo for SBS and night and day. Could lift the back wheel quite easily if provoked .
They were fine at the track on Gran Can but had to fit these beauties for Jerez and Portimao. Proper eyeball popping stuff :D

Given the shite OE Dunlops I have no doubt they are budget long life pads spec'd by Suzuki. From the GSXS forum the brakes improve considerably from just a pad change. I'm just a lazy/tight bastard. But getting the suspension upgraded in spring and gonna do the brakes over winter

I hope this doesn't sound a bit superior, but I'd never buy the budget bikes like yours.
I'd miss the superior brakes, suspension, frame and other stuff.
This GSXR is awesome in every way..

But sometimes the price is the limiting factor.

Oh, and I'm too lazy to try to improve a bike anyway.

None taken. But having said that I don't think it's as budget as you think. The swingarm and calipers are the exact same as yours. The frame is a lighter/lazier frame that looks very similar to the GSXR and it has fully adjustable front forks which actually aren't too bad. The shock is a bit budget but it's still preload and rebound adjustable.

The cast aluminium frame is actually lighter than Suzuki’s road-going superbike, but it has a longer wheelbase and lazier steering geometry for stability on the road. The aluminium swingarm is lifted straight from the GSX-R1000. Kerb weight is 207kg and 209kg with ABS. The GSX-S1000 is agile, confidence-inspiring, stable and the Dunlop D214s offers good grip for fast road riding. Forks are 43mm fully adjustable KYB items, but the single shock is adjustable for rebound and preload only.

There are no problems with ride quality, but it doesn’t offer the plush, sophisticated ride of more expensive suspension set-ups. Brembos are lifted from the GSX-R1000 and provide ample stopping power, but lack bite.

That didn't mean they had to change the name. White Power! White Power!

You see the whites got a thing they call 'white pride', the blacks got the muscle, Mexicans got the knives. So I studied the inmates to see who had the power, the whites, the blacks or just the gun tower.
