I suspect the front near-side (UK) indicator was involved....at least for a while.

That was a common thing where I first worked.
All the lads on shop floor wore smocks and easy to stick stuff on back.

I obviously must have had the sense of humour bypass on this. If my wife did this to me she'd probably be my ex-wife after not a great deal of time.

We used to write something on a bit of paper and sellotape it on to teh victims back. I put one on my mates back as he was leaving one night. He went from the west end to Bexleyheath with "Gay and available" on his back!

I saw this and seems funny why folk are still worshipping a bike and treating it with such reverence after 45 years.
It was soon bettered by more mundane looking bikes.
6 or 7 years later the new 750s had moved the goal posts along.

If it was so good, it would have lasted longer.

Lots of bikes get cult followings, for any number of reasons. Not many old bikes make sense compared to what came after, but the newer bikes don't take away the reasons for the old bikes success. Some bikes just become iconic. I expect the X-ADV will!

From what I can make out, the bike that Lucy is sat on is a K series Velo, which ceased production in 1949. The girder forks give it away. The KSS/KTT bikes were very advanced for their time, with OHC engines, the same as the first four cylinder Jap bike whice debuted 20 years later. They also won a couple of TTs, so had racing pedigree.

But what is often overlooked is that these old bikes, made before either of us was born, were the pioneers. The manufacturers were trying stuff out to see what worked and what worked best. Lots of ideas that were on display on these old bikes were later 'reinvented' and are now the norm such as monoshock suspension (originally pioneered by Vincent) and lots of other examples. When Honda and the other Japanese manufactrers came along they had a wealth of history to look back on and cherry pick the best technologies. It's called Standing on the shoulders of Giants'.

And the CB1100R in the pictures was an '80s bike, so over 30 years after the Velo.

And look at the humble LE....its a modern scoot, or would be with a little more power.

Last ZRX was imported into the US 19 years ago, there were 10 of them at the RockStore on Sunday.
