Re: What have you done today thread?
Quieter day today. Drove the wife to train station, son to work, did a small shop then went to the school to take the collective worship.
Then did a bit of reading, drove daughter to Maidstone for her session, then back home and out again to my old church to help them with an few IT issues and handovers (Vicar there is retiring). Went to fetch the wife from work and dropped off a load of stuff we had collected for her school "Forest School" sessions. Home to cook dinner and Bible study that starts in 12 minutes. Time to grab a sausage and get ready!

Let Dazzle's tyres down again. He's beginning to suspect something so I'll vary the pressure drop next time.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Just been facetimed by my Son as he has just picked up the keys to his new flat! He'll move in this weekend and for the first time in over 30 years we'll be empty nesters! For all our ups and downs over the years im sure going to miss him! Already booked a table at the wife's favourite restaurant to celebrate raising the kids until they flew the nest! However, I suspect this weekend will be emotional...

I'm getting good now
I was doing 2 pairs (2x25) quite easily so tried 4 pairs. I realises I perhaps wasn't breathing deep enough, potentially leaving dirty air in snorkel as well.
So big big breaths and 4 pairs (200m) has become easy.
When I started I looked at 32 sessions. Now it's only 8.
Less daunting. Fewer rest stops.
Time dropped to 50.5 minutes.
Average speed up from 0.86 MPH to 1.19 MPH
Had 2 small Decathlon energy bars and jumped on the GSXR.
After 4 pairs of lengths I felt good, so aimed for 8 non stop.
After 8 still good so carried on.
Was so easy so aimed for 800m then a rest.
At 800m I was cool so went for the big mile, none stop.
Never a problem really. The last 50m was probably as fast as the first.
Then I sprinted extra 10m to make it a full mile.
The energy bars helped as usually go late afternoon with no food in me. Usually late brekky at 11 ish.
I was absolutely buzzing and elated.
Was pissed off at the time.
Only 3.5 mins better than last time. Then realised that last time I would have only had 3 rests.
Buzzing.
In UK I always joined the gym during dry January and did the progressive pool thing. I was always just happy to reach a mile.
Now at 63, I'm doing a mile. Non stop !!!
Just having a beer by the pool feeling just as proud as I felt when I won my first racing trophy in 1982.
Just sent an email to my pal's wife who runs the Iron-man event every year
Speed now 1.28 MPH
Speed up to 1.3 MPH
So I'm getter fitter and better looking every year
Managed 800m in 26 minutes. Not bad for first swim in ages
Will be up to a mile again soon.
The wind is forecast to die down in next few days so will be out in the push iron then.

Re: What have you done today thread?
I've noticed that I've been getting a bit of a belly on me lately, which I put down to all three of our birthdays being in September. So, October is going to be abstemious. Having weighed in at 77kg (12' 2lb in old money), which is heavy for me, I plan to drop to 74 (11' 9lb) by the end of the month. I usually do 3-5 gym sessions a week, but I'll up that to include a couple of extra weight sessions. Drinking once a week, and I'll switch to gin and slim which is less calorific that beer. Trying to be more organised on the meal planning front to have more protein-filled breakfast and lunches, lighter dinners. I've had a word with my sense of enjoyment and told it to lower expectations this month, which it has grudgingly accepted.

I was sat in a system vendor's presentation the other week. I saw one of their sales people start nodding off, it was that tedious.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Appt with the cardiologist to get some results. He used to work at the Royal Cornwall in Truro so I'm wearing a Kernow t-shirt (his ex missus is Cornish)
Then I have to do a run to LAX timed perfectly so I'll be stuck in fucking rush hour traffic in both directions. Monday's run was timed so I avoided traffic in both directions & was back home by 6.30am. Today's flight lands at 4.30pm ... arsebiscuits

Re: What have you done today thread?
I passed the first set of driving, theory and manoeurvres tests Woo bleeding whoooo cos I was certain I wouldn't be able to pass the theory bit! Wayyyyyy too much info to retain!!
However, after 36 years (FFS I'm old!) of driving, I failed the highway code I could use the excuse that it was in French, but I think you have to completely change everything you have learned in a lifetime of driving just to pass the highway code.
Hey ho what did the man say - 2 out of 3 ain't bad??

Re: What have you done today thread?
My Step Dads carers rang for an ambulance as his wrist was badly swollen and then rang me. Ambo turned up before I got there! All his obs were good and no infection markers etc but they wanted to speak to a doctor so rang 111. How it works is, us mere mortals are expected to be dealt with within 4 hours, but paramedics have a 30 minute response time and rightly so.
2 hours later the paramedic rang 111 back and was assured she'd get a call within half hour 45 minutes later a decision was made to switch the number to mine and they left me their notes. I got a call half hour later and am now waiting for teh hospital to ring me with a GP appointment sometime today.
I felt bad having a emergency crew tied up for that amount of time especially as I overheard calls for response to other situations being called for, but they couldn't respond and all because 111 fucked up, but the system never seems to be working properly when I have call to use it.
