Honda CRF1000
Got one of these lying around ATM fitting new fork seals and pads.
Popped it all back together this pm and went to take it for a spin.
FMOB it's a lump trying to manoeuvre it about!
Best of all, it's got a stupid auto box as well.
I doubt anyone has tried off roading (proper stuff, not byway) as a double hernia isn't much fun, so I've been told.
The actual riding experience......gahhhhh.
Totally uninvolving.
Screen was good though, and the ability to wave at airline passengers as they flew over was nice!

Yeah, but I reckon they're umm, stronger? Have a support team to pick up the bike??

I'd never buy anything like that cos I hate how top heavy the CBF1000 that I'm using is. Ridiculously so. As you say, handles lovely, but I hate it on hairpins and in the garage!! LOL
I was trying not to point out that the Dakar peeps might be younger too

Pretty sure those PD bikes don't weigh 520+ lbs
First video, obviously a pro rider, I can do that, on a trials bike. Still impressive mind. I remember when the DR750 came out, and iirc it was Gaston Rahier was flipping it of walls and all sorts of things as a pr stunt.

Well ain't kharma a bitch!
Took it out for a settings ride, and decided to just rock down this track I know.
All was going swimmingly, a few sideways moments due to it having 100% road tyres on it, but nothing to worry about. A few puddles ahead, but should be f................
SLG exits stage left!
Front wheel washed out completely.
Only issue is the bike is down in a slight rut, and I'm on top of the tump, so I'm lifting from the floor. I felt every one of those 234+kg as I hauled it upright. I may be taking some ibuprofen and having an early night as well!

Ok, a positive that I've found.
TLGP, it's the dogs danglies.
Had to give it one more run out before it goes tomorrow so took it to the local city as xsr needs a new battery after 8 years!
It held its head high beating allcomers off the lights, including a big red shouty car with a yellow badge on the bonnet.
Even took it on the Twisties on the way home, rear shock was a bit bagpuss, but it hustled along at a reasonable rate!
Can't say I'll miss it though!

Getting used to using the DCT box properly will help. You really need to use sport mode(s) and master use of the flappy paddles (+/- switches) at the appropriate moments and it all starts to come together. Just riding a DCT in D mode, even on a AT, is dull.
They don't win everyone over of course, but the ones that they do, myself included, are surprised and say manual gearboxes then feel so slow and antiquated when you use one again. The reason I stopped buying bikes is I really CBA to go back to chugging a manual gearbox through London's traffic again!

Wtf were the big H thinking of letting it out like that, changing up at 2k! Into top by 35mph, snatching along because it refuses to change down. Took me 3 rides (1st proper ride) to find S mode, a happier bunny then!

I think on the original DCT, the NC700s, it was for economy on a low revving engine, but why they carried that over to the AT I'll never know, as thats not its market? It was probably why I sold my NC700X DCT as it seemed so boring. Felt like you was on a full size bike but would be in 3rd gear within 20 feet and just didn't rev like I expected a bike to. Later I did try again with a nc750x and this time I never rode it in anything other than S mode and quite liked it. Bizarrely I hardly ever use S mode on the X-ADV? I think its probably cos I get the DCT and how to use it and adapt or change modes as needed and its all quite fluid for me now.
