My lovely wife took on a plumbing job for today, which somehow means I took on a plumbing job for half a days unpaid work.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Wife said we have to get some bits for the party tomorrow. It news to me so I said what party and was told my Sister is coming over with her Frenchie which is the sister of my Frenchie and apparently they are two tomorrow so they're having a bit of a party!
Re: What have you done today thread?
Turned the heating on.
Cleared the back courtyard of weeds (there were a lot).
Sorted out a load of clothes.
Wondered when I usually find time to have a full-time job. Yes, I am back to work tomorrow

We used to call a condom a frenchie. Your post could be misunderstood.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Discovered that I still have 12.5 days annual leave to take, plus two lieu days. I can only carry over 5, so I need to fit in a few days off. Nicer problems to have, but I suspect the lovely Mrs. G may not be able to take any time off (despite being the gaffer).
Wondering if I can fit a bike trip in. Would be nice to jet off to Italy for a week, have a few days on a hire bike in the late summer sun, but it would be on my own. Failing that I could head to the tunnel and go France, but the weather ain't looking great and I doubt it'll get better as we head into winter.
Hmmm.

Dog walk around Grenofen near Tavistock. Appalling route choice, got lost, footpaths washed out or blocked by fallen tree's. Am a broken man due to pushing elderly dog in her buggy for 1/2 of it and carrying sodding buggy for the other half of it.

Re: What have you done today thread?
I got lost in the woods once. It was like the blair witch project as I kept coming back to the same spot. It was quite disconcerting at how disoriented i'd become! In the end we just shut up and listened and then walked towards the traffic noise. Finally got to the road and we were about 3 miles down the road from the car!

Re: What have you done today thread?
Sat (took?) my first ever highway code test(s)
We took two on the basis (I believe) that we might get at least one passed
The first one is a possible pass.
The second, I suspect that's a right royal fail I think there were six questions I really wasn't sure I understood!! And even one word I've never seen before
The first test I doubt I've passed but if not, hopefully it's a bit close.
Soooo - gonna spend half an hour tonight looking for a way to retake it outside the training school as the next opportunity to take the test with the training school is end of November - which is a bit late for me to get work sorted for winter
I know - I should wait and find out if I failed, but TBH, my pass rate on the mock versions has not been high, so I figure I might as well look for a way around the issue in case they tell me Friday afternoon that I did fail (whilst hoping that I pass!!!)
Driving test next - Wednesday sometime!!

Performed CPR on a girl aged maybe 12 or 13 who'd been hit by a motorbike.
In vain, I fear.

Yeah. Odd thing is all I can remember is that she had a really pretty anklet on.
Adrenalin is wearing off now. Shaking a bit.

Look after yourself, talk to people even if you don't think you need to.
I've only done it once, it snook back up on me in the next few days when I wasn't expecting it.
And the only patient whose name I remember.

Re: What have you done today thread?
What Horse said. I’ve done it a few times (for First Responders and not) and the worst is not to talk to people about it
Look after you. You’re an awesome human for being willing - many won’t
Hugs xx

Well done. A lot of people won't, and trying is far better than not trying.

Well done for diving in as not many do. At least her family will know someone tried to save her.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Not had the best day. I'm stressed to hell anyway due to the course and the exams this week, but my brother was in hospital a 10 days ago (ish) for an op. They decided soon after that he needed a second one.
But, as seems to be normal now ( ), he was dropped off the list last week and no one called him in and when he called there was "no one around to decide/no doctors came in today to make the decision"
Spoke to him yesterday and he'd been called in with a plan to operate today. So I've been proper wobbly at the thought of an op (he's not been the most healthy person up to about 6-9 months ago - the reason, I suspect, that his symptoms had been dismissed) and had a mini meltdown at one point today.
FFS, not ideal to not only be the oldest person on the course and burst into tears, but also be a girl crying My SIL text to say he was expected to be operated this afternoon so I've been on tender hooks waiting for info.
Only - there was an emergency, so he got bumped till, hopefully, tomorrow
I do so wish they lived over here!! (I think he does too !! )
Driving exam tomorrow sometime, and hopefully some good news on my bro
