Deep South, innit.

Anything goes.

I was curious because my mum always defended Elvis so I looked on Wikipedia. Incredibly only 30 states have any minimum age and where they do it can be as low as 13. Apparently a 10 year old was legally married in 2001

Aye and TBF the world has changed dramatically since Elvis was-a-wooing Cilla. Hard to believe in the 70s & early 80s men went around pinching women's arses compared to today where that constitutes sexual assault!

Where I worked in my teens, the lasses used to get upset if no-one pinched their arse or wolf whistled at them.

Did they also used to do Barbara Windsor-esque giggle and say, 'Oi! Cheeky!'?

The age of consent here was set at 16 way back in 1885. I can't help but think there was little in the way of child psychology or science involved in setting that specific age. Why not 18? Or 21? Or 21 for boys and 18 for girls as boys mature slower? The whole 'age of consent' thing seems to be a case of numbers being plucked randomly and then applied with a moral and legal rod of iron.

Or even set a minimum age difference between participants up to a certain age for the youngest one in the equation to minimise the predation of older men/women on, say, anyone of school age. Got to be a lower boundary though I'd say.

It's one thing having 16 and 18 year olds getting jiggy but a 16 year old and a, say, 42 year old is a bit :hmmm:

Builders famously shouting at larger breasted ladies, "Oi Luv, bet you dont get many of them to the pound"! Where I work any builders have to be members of the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) and part of their code of conduct is "Ensuring courteous and respectful language and appropriate behaviour in and around the construction activity". and my employer has had builders removed albeit for swearing.

I went to a stag weekend at Blackpool. In one club the Dj would suddenly stop the music and say first one to get their tits out gets the (bottle of) bubbly and there was no shortage of takers! :wtf: Is, or was, that a northern thing?

Been there, done that.

Fecking lying DJ never gave me the bottle of bubbly.

My SIL, in her 60s, would definitely do that even now (when she's had one of her biftas orf due to the C) and she'd expect you to be thrilled about it.
But we've gone the full circle from a 70s sort-of-weirdly-acceptable Benny Hill society to one where that sort of think might be considered Girl Power I suppose.

My first job was in a clothing factory where I distributed the bundles of cut-work to the seamstresses - they used to 'drop' reels of thread and get me to pick them up so they could look at my arse. I felt like a piece of meat...

It's definitely a Blackpool thing, not sure the whole region's the same.

Largely true and it may also be true that these people need to be the way they are if they are to produce the goods. Most memorable and popular music of my era was made by flawed, wrecking ball people off their tits on whatever was to hand.
Ever see the cover if Blind Faith's only studio album? Topless 11yo girl holding a "phallic" model spaceship.
