friday thread... the, 'isn't it supposed to be nice in Sept' one

Post by weeksy »

Well it's not... it's rained for about 4 days solid here.

Fri. Driving to Hopton in Shropshire, setting up the gazebo, tents, getting the food on, sorting bike/kit, beers
Sat. Practice day for the boy... it'll involve a LOT of cleaning of bike i bet. Beers and pizza
Sun. Race day for the boy, final round of Pearce series... pack up, get home and do something with all the kit :D

Fri; finish squeezing everything into the car for a trip to Dartmoor. Drive/sail/swim to said place.
Sat: early doors MTB on my favourite route then pottering around Tavistock + dog walking.
Sun: more MTB (ebike shake down) and dog walk and pub trip.

There's a race at Gawton next weekend, pity you're missing it... You'd enjoy the trails there. @MingtheMerciless

This afternoon take step dad to doctors then go to his this evening for a take away.
Tomorrow or Sunday fix the f-i-ls lawnmower.
Tomorrow or Sunday visit m-i-l and step dad-i-l.

TLDR looking after old people...

Today - last day of holiday, still very much not in Italy, so will probably be clearing the shed.

Saturday/Sunday - continuing my way down the to-do list of random jobs.

Today - get the Himalayan punture fixed - needs a new rim tape tube as the old ones had rotted so badly the valve stem ripped out and the tape spun on the rim. Had a go last night but MTB rim tape isn't thick enough - either that or there's something pointy in the rim bed that I missed.
Sat: Got to go and see an elderly relly of the missus over in Lytham, this may involve a pub lunch :obscene-drinkingcheers:
Sun: Hopefully a ride if it's nice in the morning

Today - working in Manny office. Greeted like the prodigal son when I walked in: 'What the fook are you doing here?' . Tonight we're cooking for the friends we crashing at. Mr's G is taking Gremlinette to the shops (hopefully, anxiety allowing) to stock up the fridge and larder (and drinks cupboard as well, no doubt!).

Up tomorrow to take Gremlinette to the doctor. Hopefully move forward with a plan for her. Not sure if we're heading home or staying for our friend's 60th birthday party as their place. I feel like we're imposing a bit, but they're as welcoming as you like.

Sunday. Either at home or heading home. Hopefully the return train journey will be the standard 2 and a bit hours, not the 7 and a bit hours it took yesterday. :angry-argument:

Saturday: Get a bike out for a ride around weather depending.

Good weather here,so it's the annual front hedge cutting time. That'll probably take up the good part of the day.

I hope to get out on the bike tomorrow,or if I'm lucky later today.

Early shift on Saturday, late on Sunday and Monday. Just glad it’s stopped raining for now, fed up of being wet.
Tuesday, into Birmingham for a managers meeting, then a booze up. Wednesday, after a night in a Travelodge, Spoons breakfast before a meeting all day.
Then 5 days off, to be spent with the F.
Oh, and a covid and flu jab as I’m old.
Enjoy, have fun whatever you’re up to,
Mick.

Dave (was Baby) is settled into the spare bedroom, he can have a couple of days solitary before being introduced to the other three shitbags.

He's very, very affectionate, a proper lap cat. Let's hope the other three accept him.

Friday was just chores, Saturday going to visit my eldest daughter for dinner and then on Sunday going over to my brother's family-day BBQ / open-day thing at his work - had hoped to go on the motorcycle but that's looking unlikely unless the forecast at least makes an effort at perking up.
