various French friends that run bars in resort do tend to laugh at the Brits because they always drink a "large" beer! 500ml I guess, almost a pint. The French tend to drink 250ml and slower. Main reason I now prefer French bars over ones filled with Brits - far less likely to get knocked over by a pissed person in a French bar!!Mr Moofo wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 8:58 amOn a serious note, we drink is such large measures compared to other countries as we don’t have such a warm climate. And as the beer is “warm” already , the taste effect of it warming is not so great.JackyJoll wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 8:51 amIf a pint was too big, the dosage wouldn’t include multiple servings.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2024 8:19 pm I'm a poncey wine drinker, so have no great interest in beer measures, but a pint does seem a large amount of liquid to consume, especially as the dosage normally includes multiple servings.
Carry on.
And then there is the duty issue …

Probably deliberate to try and get away from his donations shame and the unions voting against his pensioner robbing. At this rate he'll be gone by Xmas!

I think all politicians get donations, they just have to declare them, as Sir Kier did.
As for the taxing of the toxics, I'm 100% behind that. And telling all benefit claimants they should look for work, it just keeps getting better.

No I think it's an indictment of the level of concern he really has for the sausages/hostages/<whatever>.
He really doesn't care at all remembering the labour party is rife with anti-semitism. All he cares about is virtue signalling to his WEF masters, welcoming in the rise of Islam and supporting the continuation of a terrorist state in Gaza so they can get on with the job of destroying individual national identities and rolling out the globalist agenda.

The 'Labour is rife with anti-Semites' trope was purely a manufactured ploy to bring Corbyn down, due to his long-standing support for Palestine. These days Labour is no more anti-Semitic than a bagel of your choosing. Labour, like every other Western government in power, is looking the other way while Israel exacts genocide on Palestine and looks to be going the same way with Lebanon.Screwdriver wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2024 8:20 pm He really doesn't care at all remembering the labour party is rife with anti-semitism.

Re: In todays news...
Israel are systematically destroying one of if not the worst terrorist organisations in the world which Iran have plonked right on their doorstep. What right does the UK have to insist on a ceasefire? Why give Hamas/Hesbollah the opportunity to regroup when Israel have pulled a blinder with their rather brilliant Trojan horse ploy with beepers/radios? They have taken out the entire upper echelon of their leaders. Are Labour suggesting they have no right to defend themselves from Hamas/Palestine (or Hesbollah)?
Yes Hamas=Palestine, they cannot be separated. Palestine is not a country, they are not a race,. Palestine is a state run entirely for and by a terrorist organisation with the specific stated ambition to kill jews. They have spent the past god knows how long building a network of tunnels like fucking rats in a sewer. They use schools, hospitals and private building to hide behind those structures to engage the enemy.
If they were wiped entirely off the face of the planet. the world would be a better place. As for the unfortunate victims in this, the residents of Gaza who have not been indoctrinated or forced into acquiescence, there is a good reason no other country will even consider the possibility of allowing them to migrate. There is no way of telling which ones are "mostly peaceful" and which would slit your throat or bomb your church or start building an underground terror network so they can restart the cycle of terror. The vast majority of Palestinians do actually support Hamas.
Wherever this rag tag group of ultra extreme religious nutjobs go, there is always trouble. I remember the PLO even if the rest of the world doesn't. I say they haven't moved on, they still have the same hatred of Western civilisation and a penchant for barbaric cruelty that would make ISIS blush. I have no doubt they are right now considering the idea of sending back some of the hostages they have been torturing/raping/murdering literally as sausages. Wouldn't surprise me in the least.

They were offered Statehood under the 1917 Balfour plan IF they were willing to give up half their land for the Jews. They told the Brits to get fucked, which with hindsight probably wasn't the best answer.Screwdriver wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2024 10:07 pm Yes Hamas=Palestine, they cannot be separated. and this is one of the reasons half the fucking planet is STILL fighting WW1 after 110 years.

Re: In todays news...
I just heard that Starmer the Grannny harmer, is now less popular than Sunak after a 45 point drop in the opinion polls and that's coming from The Guardian! Labour and its union paymasters seem to be very much against him and like the audience on QT last night, its mainly over his attack on the poorer pensioners and his hypocrisy. If he goes ahead with it, it'll probably be his undoing, but if he caves in and changes his mind he's going to look weak. At this rate I cant see him surviving.

The irony is that I actually agree with the scrapping of the winter bonus based only your age. My mum ain't exactly rolling in it, but she doesn't need it and certainly won't freeze to death this winter, despite the claims of the DM. She's pissed off as she used the bonus to do her Christmas shopping in M&S.Taipan wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2024 10:41 am I just heard that Starmer the Grannny harmer, is now less popular than Sunak after a 45 point drop in the opinion polls and that's coming from The Guardian! I totally agree it should be means tested as should child benefit, but pushing it through regardless will harm many pensioners. For me its his hypocrisy that grates. Heard about a rather plummy old dear kicking off about it at a U3A class recently, the rest of the old dears pointedly ignored her. 'Ah' she says 'I appear to have lost the room'.
Pensioners have had their real income grow between 21% - 36%, over the past twenty years, compared to working age adults, whose income has grown by 10% in the same amount of time. Working-age adults also have had to deal with stagnated wages since 2008, while one in five pensioner households are millionaires.
* I exclude the Star from that description. It seems to be channelling the Sport these days.
