I remember the controversy of calls for making petrol a £1 a gallon and scrapping road tax!

Among some friends of mine it's referred to as the Titanic. Someone posted a drone video from a car show I was at a while back...Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 9:46 pm You can mitigate the cost by not driving the Bismarck to work.

Woke up way before the alarm (downside of a row of early rises I guess!!
So, stuff in van and waiting at the table when the breakfast bar opened. Catching up on here before doing some more study and heading to school.
I think I am becoming assimilated!! Well if my breakfast is anything to go by (and I am actually happy with this kinda breakfast, as much as I'd be happy with a cooked one! Although the cheese is a bit plastic!!) -

And all the Germans nick it all, with the bread rolls for lunch. Their expenses are based on an amount per dayMr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 6:52 am One of my favourite things about visiting the mothership in Germany is what the hotels put on for Breakfast Way better than a fry up.

I've seen Netherlanders do that too. And of course I follow their example when in their own country.

Rolls-Royce was like that when I worked there. You got ~£45 a day (in the noughties) regardless of how much you actually spent.

What did the cover? The bank would pay up to £25 for an evening meal and fiver each for breakfast and dinner. That was about 3 years ago.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2024 9:51 amRolls-Royce was like that when I worked there. You got ~£45 a day (in the noughties) regardless of how much you actually spent.

In Turkey , I got 39.00 euro per day. Breakfast in the hotel was 25.00 euros. Hence you steal the bread rolls

I was briefly contracting in Copenhagen. Piles of pastries first thing to chomp your way through, and then at 11a:m they all legged it to the company canteen for a long lunch ....
Re: What have you done today thread?
Today I am mostly not flying to Italy, as per the original plan, cos Muz spilt his head open yesterday (he's fine), and after stitching him up the doc advised not to fly.
Looks like I'll be filling my unexpected staycation doing jobs at home all week instead.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Accommodation and transport was covered separately (typically arranged direct by AmEx) and then the £45 was everything/anything else. They always booked hotels with breakfast included. So it was usually a £5 lunch and a £40 pub dinner Or in my case as cash strapped Grad, two £5 meals and £35 profit.
Current place is "don't take the piss" which generally means a half decent dinner and maybe 2 rounds of drinks.
Cold meats and cheese, little breads, hard boiled eggs, random yoghurt which never seems like it fits with teh other things.
There's always a Fry Up Buffet™ for the brits too.

There's usually those small rashers of what looks a bit like bacon, I usually cram a few into a crusty roll to make a piss poor bacon butty.

Re: What have you done today thread?
There's one place/supplier I've visited in southern Germany a few times which has a little bakery just around the corner. They always get Pretzels / Brezels in for brekkie. Now that's a great German food You just don't get good ones in the UK.
