A very slow possible resurrection of an Aprilia TXR312 trials bike
It was delivered yesterday:
A quick look over the bike and the box of bits suggests it's all there. Both tyres hold air which is a start, it's easier to push about. Turning it over by hand suggests there's compression. It might need fork seals too.
The first thing to do is get it running. I can check for a spark by spinning it up with a cordless drill. Once that's done I'll sort the carb.

it might need a bit more than fork seals... I hope it was less than £20.

You can re-chrome the forks by rubbing them with a bit of balled up tin foil

Oh wow. Good luck with that! Although if anyone can do it, you can.

First problem: I haven't got a spark plug that fits the plug caps I have.

It turns over well enough but after a bit of hopeful faffing there's no spark. So it's check from the beginning, flywheel off and test everything from the very basics.

Biggest problem with these older/unloved strokers is crankcase seals. They will almost certainly be shot.
Great excuse to whip it apart for a nut and bolt rebuild. Not that you get much choice....

The plan is to get a spark, then get a bang with some spark and fuel, and then think about what to do next.
If I can't get a spark then I'll probably just sell it as spares.
