Friday thread... the weird summer is gone but still here one.

Post by weeksy »

The morning are a bit colder, the days shorter and darker, but the afternoons are still quite nice... weird.

So what you up to then ?

Fri. WFH and chilling, maybe a take-away for tea
Sat. Hopton Castle in Shropshire riding in the woods all day with the boy
Sun. Currently empty.. i imagine some bike washing and cleaning time.

Wet start up this end

About to pack the bus and head to Lancaster. Pick something up then on to Whitney-on-Wye for a weekend round a camp fire with a bunch of idiots. Probably down Devon, Cornwall way for the rest of the week.

SiL was taken into A&E last night so all plans are out of the window while wife takes over carer duties for their mother.
So short of the weekly shop and sneaking in my first McMeal since covid we'll see what come up.

At this rate naff all, I've been up for about 3 hours and haven't done anything useful yet.

Today I should tidy the shed.
Tomorrow I'm helping a mate build a gate. He could do it himself but I think he needs the company more.
Sunday, I don't know.

There's solar panels that need looking over, an outside socket to fit, ditto an outside light and excess stuff to list for sale.

A misty start to the day but it looks like the sun should burn it off soonish. The mail plane might be a bit late today.

12Hr Nights from last night to Monday night. Two Emergency switch offs last night, one person was sadly successful. Hopefully a damp weekend will keep the troubled souls and drunks at home.

"Especially the lies."

Was gonna 'Like' that, but though tit may come across as inappropriate. You get what I mean, hopefully.

Hopefully not much this weekend, after two weekends of birthday roistering. We're out tonight for our friends' parent's 60th wedding anniversary. I'd say it would be a sedate one, but the family in question are somewhat raucous.

Saturday, body permitting, gym then catching up on house duties such as gardening, cleaning and stuff.

Sunday, if I miss Saturday gym, then I'll go on Sunday. Long dog walk with friends will probably be on the cards.

They like motorways too, sadly. Not a day goes by nowadays without at least one attempted and that’s just on my bit of road. Depressing.

Me, work, lates all weekend in the rain.
The F has her daughter coming on Sunday so Im leaving them to some mother/daughter time. I was planning a couple of days away on the bike but unless weather things change early next week I’m doing very little for 3 days!
Have fun, whatever you’re up to.

Well the weekend has started with New Bike Day :banana-dance: however I've bought the roughest Himalayan in the country ( for less than a bag too 🙀) so probably more like :banana-wrench: good news is I can sit on it with my arthritic hips a lot more comfortably than the Guzzi. It actually fit in the back of the Alhambra Wav with only having to remove screen and mirrors😎

Tomorrow will be inspecting how much of a money pit I've bought. A new battery seems the bare minimum as it seems a bit reluctant to start. Will need to keep tidying the shed to to get it in there.

Sunday will be an emtb ride in the morning before the rain comes
'07 Griso 1100 (for sale), '94 Sprint 900, the scabbiest Himalayan in the country

I actually do get why people do it (I had many a moment in my late teens/20's standing at the side of a busy road looking at the trucks) but to inflict the aftermath on drivers of cars/trains/trucks etc is really sad. :( :(

My sister was the third car over a jumper on the M5 many many years ago and it was at least a decade before she drove on motorways again. I know she's still not keen to though :( :(

I'm just home, but heading to sleep soon. Starting at 6am Monday so have to leave home by 4am. So I figure I need to keep getting up early over the weekend to make Monday easier

Sooo - early night tonight.

Tomorrow, early up, do some revision; probably head to the office to do some printing of stuff; it looks like tomorrow morning is the best part of the weekend, so if it doesn't rain I'll head to the valley to see a mate for coffee then come back before it rains. More study then early bed

Sunday as Saturday minus the visit to the valley!!

We have mock exams/driving tests next week and there's a LOT I need to try and remember  - I've never had the sort of brain that remembers lots of stuff. I can do it a bit in English but this is seriously tough :( :(

Friday - kind of quiet. 1 hr in the safe dog field and Sid the pointer is now collapsed in my office asleep. No kidding - 23 degrees here and he ran for 50 minutes!
Just seen the time so it will be time to get a beer
Still recovering from last night 37 k MTB ride - and on a manual!
Tomorrow - back out manual MTB , grand kids coming around in the evening to entertain the wife and the dog
Sunday - off to see the might Seagulls against Forest . Then into Brighton for sister's birthday meal, with nephew and Mrs Moofo
