This is now the political norm for the U.S. What is it, 14 attempts on Presidents in history? Four successful? Now factor in the damage that social media is doing to society in terms of radicalising and provoking people, with the ever increasing sophistication of weaponry available to carry out an attack.
I also suspect it wouldn't take much thinking to work out when Trump is likely to be playing Golf on his own course near his house. He loves a bit of the old walk spoiling, waiting by the bunker is gonna offer you an opportunity pretty quickly I'd have thought? I wouldn't immediately be minded to think it was a tip off or inside job.
Trump's as much to blame as anyone for this sort of thing IMO. Not in that he's directly inciting violence or anything like that, but because of something far more fundamental and dangerous. He's a massive contributor to the personal attacks, transactional relationship, name calling, proof-not-required, winning-more-important-than-leading* style of campaign. The worst there's ever been.
*I still laugh at this "if you take out the blue states" comment during Covid BTW. Were you not president in them states then Donny?
