Re: Are common interests/ages important?
On the age gap thing, great if you're the older person, potentially not so good for the younger person. My experience is that we're (wifey and I) are friends with three couples with significant age differences, all are older women, all the women are in their 70's. Two of the couples are ticking along nicely although one of women isn't in good health and is heavily reliant on her husband, the relationship is fine though. Couple number three, she's reliant on him for just about everything. She won't drive, although she could if she wanted. He does the shopping, runs her here there and everywhere and he's getting a bit resentful of it.

Re: Are common interests/ages important?
That has always been in the back of mind as in general the guys I like enough to consider possibly maybe 'going out with' are at least 15 years younger than me - and the women in my family do seem to live to a grand age, so I don't want to inflict that on someone!! Another reason to not get involved, historically.Pirahna wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 10:37 am On the age gap thing, great if you're the older person, potentially not so good for the younger person. I'm sure it can work as long as the older person doesn't just stop trying, but it could always be a challenge

I’m not sure it should only be a monthly warning

Having all the same interests is too much
Having some common interests and some of your own seems right to me.

I'm not sure Yorick would be up for that,however thoughtful the offer.

She likes your driving and you're both a bit daft! Perfect, no??!!The Martian wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 12:35 am Sometimes it just works.. you know me and have met my other half right?
But, but - aren't you in that Scotchland? I mean, I am already part Scottish, don't think I need any more??!! (but a very kind offer! )
Sounds about right. I guess I also wondered how many had partners that were into bikes too. But it seems it's not 100% important!
As I've said, I've not had an actual relationship for a couple of decades, so it hasn't really been important to me. I'm still probably not going to have an actual relationship, so it's still not!
All I do know is I won't ever give up bikes for someone, so if a potential relationship bloke says I should, he's no longer potential

I'd suggest that similar sleep patterns are more important than common (shared, not 'Oh dear, how') interests.

@Noggin
I’m late to this - wifey is 10 years older than I am. It’s not really an issue other than her taste in music, crimpoline slacks and velcro shoes (Christ I hope she doesn't read this )
Re you potential squeeze - he/ she is over 16?
