Strange shape shower replacement

Post by MyLittleStudPony »

The shower here is a bit tired and could do with replacing. It's an unusual shape. I could do with one the same shape as all the tiling has been done to fit it. Any idea how I can find one the same shape, if it exists?

Looking at that profile, I'd say that unless you can find the manufacturer, and they're still making it, you're a bit buggered. Do the flooe tiles go under or up to?

The tiling just goes up to the edge (not under), both on the floor and walls.

I've looked for a manufacturer name but can't see one.

Its known as a P Shaped Shower Enclosure and they come left or right handed and should still be available. Try a local plumbers /bathroom supply shop rather than a chain. They have catalogues with everything in.

Assuming it's your own place, and there's no requiremnt to cheap out, I'd consider getting the shower enclosure you want and factoring in a bit of retiling.

You'd have to get one that was over-sized a little to cover the tiling. Look at the profile around the chrome pillars. Fecking nightmare.

I'd be tempted to get a regular rectangle one and either retile or throw some laminate over the top for a quick fix. A rectangle shape would work better in that area, too.

When you take out the old one you should be able to fill the space on the floor to bring it up to the same height as the tiles, then fit on top of that.

If you choose a tray that's raised(which are a bloody sight easier to fit and inspect), as opposed to low-profile, the feet should allow for adjustment, hopefully up to the level of the wall tiles.

My experience of 'quick fixes' are that they are as mythical as pixie pubes.

Just to piss on your chips a little more, if somebody like my F-i-L put up the shower enclosure in, he/she may have have thrown a couple of tubes of grab adhesive to the frame. Trying to get the enclosure frame off may end up pulling the tiles off the wall.

Soz.
