Bit of a shock today.
Researching possible bike trip next year and happened across a place in France that runs day trips out from a base. Reminded me of Flash, formerly of this parish so I looked him up on Facebook as a possibilty. Never been to his place, but have heard good things about it.
Anyway, his missus Violette, died suddenly back in March, and Flash Tours are no more.

Re: Bit of a shock today.
That is a shame. I never did find out if I met him about 14 years ago. I was out on my bike and happened across a group of english bikes. On an organised ride. I rode with them for the afternoon, but sadly, I didn't have a phone so no details were exchangedCousin Jack wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2024 6:12 pm Researching possible bike trip next year and happened across a place in France that runs day trips out from a base. Flash Tours rings a bell but cant remember the username Flash. Was there not another guy in South Germany who did tours and one in East Austria. He may just be a B&B though.

Re: Bit of a shock today.
Flash/Tony didn't spend a lot of time on VD from what I remember - but got a fair few customers through it. I think it was on VD I found out about Flash Tours and went a few times. First time we didn't know any of the other riders but rode down there with Moocow and Slug once and Big Nige was there one year.
Violette was lovely.
Rockburner was probably the most recent one on a Tour and he says Tony was saying 'This year's the last' for a few years.

Re: Bit of a shock today.
I think FLASH was only on VD very briefly, but he kept an eye on the goings-on. He was on the older Bikenet forum iirc.
I saw Tony and Violette late last year and was gutted when I heard she'd passed away.
I was fortunate enough to make the "last" FlashTours weekend (as it turns out it WAS the last one ), and I was also on the first one. (and several in between!)

Re: Bit of a shock today.
Did he use the word Flash in the Flash Gordon red and yellow font? I ,may be thinking of some other as i was only on VD for a matter of months before jumping ship to the brave new world of WB.

Ah, Bikenet. Folk like myself and fastfitter came from there. The forum raids was my first experience of VD.
My condolences to Flash.
