Re: Biker Bingo
I got 18. Ridden off with the lock still on? Nope, but I have ridden with a broken throttle cable tied round my foot and moved my foot to control the speed, ridden '3-up', put my feet in plastic bags before putting my boots on and riding in torrential rain + ridden on snow, not just in it.

Re: Biker Bingo
That's what I thought. Maybe they mean disc lock?
For those with 20 points, tie-breakers:
1. Ridden a bike with a sidecar on?
2. Ridden in the sidecar?

Re: Biker Bingo
Depends on:
a. Where you place the lock, relative to how you intend to exit from the parking location
b. Not changing your mind

Re: Biker Bingo
I tried to ride off on my NS125R with a chain through the rear wheel and knackered the chain guard.
Re: Biker Bingo
When I was 17 my Dad towed me on my 175 Bantam ( useless brakes ) behind his Reliant van (fibre glass body, you can see where this is going). He gradually went faster as he gained confidence. Then someone pulled out from a pub and he slammed on the brakes. I went straight through the back door. I remember him leaning over his shoulder to ask me if I was alright him still in the driver's seat me halfway in the back of the van.

Tried to start the bike with the kill switch "off". / Walked up to a mate who's bike won't start and casually flicked the kill-switch back on "on".

The former was scary enough, I had no desire to try the latter.Count Steer wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2024 8:06 am

'2' was fine because either I was a toddler or the pilot knew what they were doing.DefTrap wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2024 9:48 amThe former was scary enough, I had no desire to try the latter.Count Steer wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2024 8:06 am

Re: Biker Bingo
My 'adventure' ended up being 35 miles (FFS!), not the shortest route but the one with the fewest turns or roundabouts. I was the tow-er (crappy kawa z550) and the tow-ee was my brother on one of his terrible choppers (probably the Yam XV750). He got confident enough being towed that I could see him in my rear view mirror searching for his fags.Ian wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2024 8:48 am

Re: Biker Bingo
Once on my XJ550 I towed a CB250RS across northern France to Dieppe, both bikes were 2 up & fully loaded with camping gear.
On the same tour my Z900 riding mate ended up towing a Z750 from northern France to York, again both bike's were 2 up & fully loaded with camping gear. These day's I recomend insurance
Re: Biker Bingo
Steering locks used to be a separate lock built into the headstock, it was not uncommon to jump on the bike
and try to ride off only to discover you had not unlocked the steering.

Once you get used to it, it's not so bad is it? - probably the worst bit was the shock / horror / double-takes of other motorists.
Is the law clear on the legality of doing this? I never checked at the time (my experience is from the early 90s) and the law may have changed anyway. I don't recall seeing any plod and there were fewer / zero cameras back then.
I can't recall which bits of the tow-bike were tied to the tow-ee - there weren't any YouTubes to consult back then....
Obviously we had no bike-to-bike comms.

18. Don't think I've ever run totally out of fuel. And even with separate steering locks don't think I've ridden off with one on.

17. Never waved at a speed camera, been on a track or ridden over 250 miles day and probably never will.
