Forum popularity, google searches, etc ?

What can the Admins do to help, any requests for changes, updates, etc.

G.P wrote: Thu Jun 18, 2020 1:48 pm OK I've created a Revtothelimit Group page on FB

Go on and like it and i'll start getting some content and links up this afternoon. For those who are Friends on FB I'll invite you to like
I think we can start feeding some new traffic in here and also you can use it to post images - nothing wrong with a bit of duplication.
How did the FB group go then ? Anyone using ? posting ?

IMHO, I can't see the point really. It's just duplicating stuff. And stuff will get diluted also.

Just my thoughts.

It's useful for sharing FB specific stuff that is difficult to share on another platform, like FB videos.

It was more to point people to here who find things on FB. I'd think it's easier to find a FB group than just finding the forum via Google etc.

So some of the content on FB should ideally encourage people who've not been to the forum to visit to see.

I usually stumble upon forums when searching for the answer to something.

I found this place via The Rev Counter, as I found a thread relevant to what I was googling, then realised the forum had shifted. Had a browse and it didn't look too tribal so thought give it a try.

So from a search engine perspective, I think a lot of it will come from having useful and helpful threads.

So we need to delete all these users and start from scratch ?

Or just encourage them (with Admin's encouragement hammer) to post less shite and more useful stuff?

In all truth I'm more than happy with the content, I'd like more bike builds, projects, upgrades etc but I guess that'll come as time passes.

Just logged onto a machine that doesn't 'know' me.

Intrestingly i didn't find this place in the first 15 pages of google searches using 'motorbike forum'

Even things like some of the Ducati Forums were not till page 9, UKGSER was page 8..

So i guess it's no major shock we're struggling to find new members etc. I'd even argue that any of the 'new' guys only found us through TRC or someone they know.

I know it all takes time, but that did sadden me a little bit.

This may be the daftest idea ever... or a stroke of genius... Or something inbetween

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274589850752

Whether it will come up on any searches, whether anyone will look at it and whether they'll find their way to the forum, i don't know.

But if it gets a lot of hits, i'll add some other auctions for other items etc... Dunno... maybe it'll work.

Have you thought about a RTTL Instagram page which could be linked to the forum ?
People could post pics that are relevant to the forum, the more people post pics with the tag #rttl the more people will start taking a look 🤷🏼‍♂️

Not sure 8-10 copy and pastes would have that effect.

But I think it's likely to give greater exposure than Google may do anyway?

Dunno. Just thinking

Just tested, but only find it when I'm looking for a revtothelimit coffee mug. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Not criticising I was thinking about it from a different angle:
If you just want people to click the link to come here that's great
if you want to just get a link where google will see it, they're already wise to that
Yeah I was thinking more of people seeing the link and thinking "ooooh let's see"
