Could be the root cause.

Maybe the original mess up caused enough heat to damage something that's now finally had enough. Metal contacts heated up enough can lose their spring tension, for example.

If that's all, then a fuse and a solenoid should be enough to get her happy again :obscene-drinkingcheers:

By the looks of that, I'd say that the Fuse was loose in the connector. The burn mark in the middle is where it was loose. It would have been arching, pitting the contact even more and gradually making the electrical connection progressively worse.
Possibly.

My last one of these was because of a trapped wire, it only shorted out when I went over a big bump.
It was black wire, black bracket and black bolt.
Had to park up get the Mrs to rescue me and went back the next day.
Took about 40mims to realise what it was

Took it to ship with my pal to translate. He was chatting to owner for ages as they're great pals.
Owner then comes out, sees the blown fuse and pulls the whole unit off.
The starter motor relay had blown.
They had one in stock. 23€ :obscene-birdiedoublered:

Gave him 10€ tip :obscene-birdiedoublered:

Happy here, but think it's screwed the battery. It's on charge now.
